Manager not reducing notice period for even 7 working days

I have put down my papers. My LWD will be on 10th of Jan. I am trying to convince my manager that since I will not be part of my current team after this PI (Program Increment) which will end on 6th December, I can't really contribute that much to a new team in a month of time. All I am asking is to reduce the NP by 10 days since we have an annual shutdown from 25th dec. But the manager is not understanding. What should I do l?

You can try adjusting your NP against your leave balances if you are in dire need. Otherwise just chill 😎

So if I apply leaves, can I join to the new company before my LWD?? won't it cause any issues?

you have to ask your HR to adjust the NP against your earned leaves and you are not interested in encashing them. Then you can get early reliving.

The only issue is HR of the company joining is expecting me to join in mid December.

Your appointment letter should already have a clause on what happens if you don't serve notice period. If it is there, you should inform them that you will not be able to serve the full notice period. Mostly they will be deducting the pay for the period. Example: if your notice has shortfall of 10 days, you will need to pay an amount equalling your salary for 10 days to the company. So you don't earn anything for 10 days since you are not working + you pay them for 10 days. They will essentially adjust this in your FnF. This is what is referred as the buyout clause.

Thanks for the reply, my HR recruiter is ready to pay the amt. But I heard from the senior that it also requires manager's approval.

you know their incompetencies that you didn't point out earlier, it's time to do it, start writing mails, involve big leads in those mails., be civil/professional though. You will automatically get early release without any issue.

New company hr shouldn't be adamant about 10 days either. You cannot have control over your current organisation but can ask the company to accommodate.

Dont tell the HR that the manager is not approving it. Instead cook up a story that the project you are heading i close to completion and you would like to deliver it fully in the next 10 days. Why is everyone feeling the need to talk the truth all the time to corporates? Cook a story, even if they know you are lying they would pretend you are saying the truth and walk.

Right now is too early to reduce notice. When November ends, things will develop and your replacement may have been hired. Try again later. My previous company knocked 2 weeks from my notice when I asked them at the end of my tenure.
