Layoffs: Advise Needed

Hi All, This post is for my close friend. He is a Senior IOS Developer with over 7 Years of work-ex in SWIFT, CoCoa and Objective C. Current CTC - 23 His company has announced mass layoffs throughout the organization. He cannot sit idle as he has multiple financial responsibilities and people dependant on him. He has given 2 interviews now for Microsoft, Walmart, but not selected in 2/3 Rd rounds. Not getting calls now even after applying and connecting with HR and referrals in MNC's also. (Probably because of the current market conditions) Need advice on what we should do next as time is running out as well as patience. Also any leads would be appreciated. If you know someone in IOS, application development, for Pune Banglore location, please let me know. Thank you.
