[Paytm] Many MF will face the wrath next week
How do MF manage such shocks? Damn, didn't know that so many MF had exposure. I think many of them may not buy more if other payment players start poaching merchants. Intresting to see SBI payments reacting to news. https://www.livemint.com/mutual-fund/paytm-stock-crash-mutual-funds-schemes-likely-to-face-music-with-navs-under-pressure-rbi-bse-paytm-shares-markets-11706776025430.html

Interestingly, Quant sold their stake in January itlelf. And this isn't the first time they were able to do it in a scrip before a bad event

Quant has the highest stock turnover ratio across all MFs. Somehow that's comforting for me since it's an indicator of proactive thinking of fund managers
We had the news around micro loans (sub 50k) being targeted by RBI. They probably saw the cue and exited after the stock fell like 15% in a few days
Nothing shady tbh.
“Mutual Funds are subjected to market risks”. Such shocks are embedded in the product.

I m curious but was Paytm a midcap company? That many midcap & Large cap MF have them
Paytm, after the 3 drops of 20,20,10%, still has a market cap of 27,800cr which makes it a large cap stock.
Any stock values above 20k cr ($2.5bn) is a large cap stock. Paytm IPOed at $19bn.
