Remote jobs and Open Source

My yoe is 5+ and i am backend developer mostly wprking on building web apps java, spring boot, python flask,PostgreSQL my total ctc is 30 lpa comparing that to average here is low, can anyone provide suggestion to increase my ctc and expected ctc.

Hi! I just finished my second year at a tier-1 college. I’ve been looking for internships to do this summer, and a startup offered me a backend role of 10k pm stipend that required 8 hours a day commitment. I’d have to travel to their 2-3 times a week to their office that’s 7-8 kms away. I know a decent amount of web dev, have built a MERN clone of Reddit, and I’m pretty good at algorithms. Upon asking one of my mentors about this, he that the guy who’s offering me this role is simply ripping me off. I just wanted a second opinion on this. Am I being underpaid?

I have been working on Backend development with NodeJs & ExpressJs with databases like Mysql, pg, redis and rabbitmq and some parts of devops like k8s, gcp etc. for the last 3 years. Before that I was working as a C# developer for 2 years. Now I want to learn something challenging. I am done with creating websites and normal stuff. People are recommending different things like Golang, Rust, Ruby on Rails, Elixir or anything else. I want to get a global remote job next year. So what should I work on so that I can work accordingly. The competition shouldn't be that much and side projects should be enough to get a good job. Or give a good roadmap.

Yoe: 2.5 Tech stack: React Native, React JS Current: 25 base Will Indian startups be willing to hire for this much base in current market? If yes, will the work life balance be absolute shit? I’m currently working at a startup, want to switch Please help a fellow SWE. Thanks 🙏

I have 8 years of experience working as a software Engineer, i worked for 3 startups in these 8 years, Now I am planning to switch and I have 2 offers one from a seed stage start-up and one from Faang like company. What should I choose. I am more into front end development, pay in startup is 10% less which is not a concern for me. I like working in startups, my only concern is how it will affect me in the long term maybe after 5-10 years.

I will go first I have 5 YoE . I have not written new code since many weeks. Usually i have been working on fixing issues. This is the reason i want to know how much time people spend on writing new code .

I felt like doing this AMA since, recently, students and experienced folks are being lured by 'paid' open-source courses. Feel free to ask any questions without paying any $$$. I won't respond to questions which could potentially dox me though. P.S. I know the post title is cringy, but I couldn't think of anything better ATM.

I see so many folks complaining about status quo around where they work. Very curious to understand what are your expectations from a startup and the founders. This may help us get what we want from startup founders here. In the comment, highlight what you want and what you're willing to give.
