For me age is genuinely just a number. And work is worship. Yet, having people who are often my age or sometimes 10-20 years older than me reporting to me - becomes a discussion. Why is “age” even a discussion if one has proved their merit and mettle? In a country with a growing young population, we have some randomly contrasting values. Of course, basic respect for all is just a fundamental in the team’s culture. Do you think an employee should “respect” another employee just by the virtue of age?

I know many oldies who should be fired immediately. Forget tech, they are not even able to manage teams properly. Even so called "Seniors/Leads" don't know how to be one, if you question them, somehow it hurts their ego and you need to follow/respect them because they were born earlier ? Tech should be limited to max till 12 years of work experience only, rest should transition into some other career, start your own startup or business or something but don't be an employee in a big company.

I have years of experience, but feel invisible in interviews. How to successfully rebrand oneself later in their career?

Amidst any conversation- be it personal or professional why is age brought to the forefront? Quite curious.

When I joined corporate world in 2012, there were many 45+ and some 55+ folks among us..... Gradually I have been witnessing slow but steady change in demography.... After 10 years, I am rarely seeing any 55+ folks...and noticeable reduction in 45+ folks. My prediction is AI will make this slow change very steep in next 5 years and we would rarely see any average but highly paid 45+ folks
