When your manager is giving you work on Friday evening

You've planned your weekend on Friday, just before closing the system, but then suddenly, a client calls you or a manager comes up with an urgent work request, asking you to complete it. You also realize that the task is critical, and you may have to work on the weekends. Has this happened to anyone? If so, how do you deal with it?

You have pending work, you take accountability & you want to get it done with Anything other than this boils down to 1/ Your manager wants you to work weekends 2/ Your business leader wants your manager to make you work weekends 3/ Your CEO wants your business leader to force your manger to make you work weekends 4/ Your Board / Investor wants your CEO to make your Business Leader to force your manager to make you work weekends. See the pattern? DEMANDS. ASK's. Always someones. Why the rant you ask?? Heard a CEO say to his Leaders "Why are you leaders not forcing your people to work weekends, This is so pathetic" I was like ... wait what ...?? But then i realise the grey matter can show some "really" blessed people a loading screen at the most opportune time.

So thing is In last 1 week my manager/project lead has been threating that you will have to work on weekend if you dont complete your task by friday and put the the task to testing. And this boils my blood soo damnn much . But as a person who is on lowest level i cant do/say shit. I just disagree with him and dont argue. What would you have done .[ practical advice only] And thing is i do all my dev work on time even earlier almost everytime and he just goes around and threatens everyone with this. Soo annoying thay dumbfk needs to get rekt .

So it’s barely been a month since I’ve joined this company and my manager has already started dumping his workload to me on weekends and at odd hours late in the night. Now he’s not a horrible person but I hate how normalised this culture is at this entire organisation. I get it if I’m a founder or working at a startup, I have to be prepared to hustle but not at a big corporation. And the irony is that I once needed something urgently from someone based in Europe from our team but my manager asked me to call him the next day since that person was out of his working hours while I was on a call with my manager at 1:18am….. I’ve also noticed how casually he calls me everyday post 9pm to ask for updates or give a new task. My work hours end by 6pm. I really want to to establish certain boundaries, and not want to work on weekends. I’m a biker, and I’ve been cancelling all my biking plans on weekends just cause of this. How do I go about this without it negatively affecting my ratings/impressions etc.?? I have a life smh. (Writing this while I’m working on a Sunday)

It can be either a strange workplace policy, an altercation with a manager or absolutely anything else.

So how do u folks manage work life balance. Does it exists or is it the case, more money more responsibility more fucked up work life balance.?
