Career advice required

So I left my job in Jan 2024 after 3.4 yoe. I wish to switch my profile to HR, and therefore, I wish to pursue an MBA degree. Now the problem starts: my family is pressuring me that if I'm unable to convert any good colleges, how will I justify my gap year so I should take up a job. I don't wish to take up a job since I want to focus entirely on CAT prep. They are also pressurising me that if I'm unable to convert, then I will have to start from scratch in HR with a low salary and they wish to see me married within next 2-3 years so why would a nice guy marry a girl who is earning 25k-30k a month. So I'm really stressed out. What should I do? Take up a job and then prepare for entrance, or ignore them and just focus on prep, like what's the solution? Everyone is talking about the problem, what's the solution?

I have been working as a Software engineer since the past 2 years (work from home), but now I will have to shift. I have been thinking about going for an Mba since last year and will be self-prepping, since I have the basics (I did prepare last year) I am confused on the course for preparation I've been thinking to go full on with Mocks and tests for the time remaining (I'll start the prep now) People who have been in similar situation, what mock test series did you find accomodating and flexible ? I would want to have as much flexibility in mock tests because some days I can devote 4-5 hrs, but some days it would be lesser. I've come across SIMCATs, AIMCATs and CatKing's mock series. Are they good ?

Hey all, I'm currently working at a boutique consulting firm, which pays well (~1.3 years) but has terrible working hours. I am planning to take CAT this year (already preparing for 2-3 months). Since CAT is just 90 days away I am thinking of quitting my job or at least putting in a notice period (as it will reduce my workload and expectations from me) and focusing on CAT for the days left. I don't think l'll be able to give 100% effort to the CAT exam in my current job scenario. Also, are there any alternative suggestions from folks in the same industry or anyone, by which I can get some time off (maybe medical leave for 20-30 days) or something which will give me time to prepare without quitting?

I need some advice. 1. I am a fresher and am considering giving the CAT exam this year. 2. Currently working as a data science intern and frankly, not enjoying it a bit. I dread debugging. I also feel everyday that AI can easily do 75% of my work. 3. I want some business side roles, thinking I won't have to stare at a screen all day, fixing bugs. What roles can I expect after doing a MBA, is it worth the extra 2 years and the money, and if you are someone who can relate to my situation, what are some of the things you enjoy about your work and some things which you absolutely hate. I might have completely wrong expectations, so please feel free to correct me.

Hello, I am currently a 3rd year computer engineering student from a 3rd tier college, The average package here is around 3.2L, I am not confident enough to land this package and I am confused should I start preparing for CAT now or should I focus on my placements preparations, I don't know whether I will be able to get a good college as I don't have any experience, Suggestions would help :)

Hello Grapevine folks, I am currently a final year student at one of the IIIT. I am not satisfied in pursuing a tech role in future . Since I want to change my career I am clear that I have to go in management role . But I have not decided which specialisation I am inclined to . I will attempt CAT exam this year . Should I also prepare for CFA ? Does it increases placement and career prospects after and during MBA? Please guide me what should I do.

Hi, Need some advice guys. I am currently working in oracle as a software developer since 2 years. I like the work but I want to expand my horizon and move into management roles and am interested in doing a global MBA from a reputed institute preferably Ivy League. But I was told by someone that the global market is very bad and to get roles like Management Consultant and PE/VC, I need some finance/analytics background. So should I switch to same role in a bank like Goldman Sachs to get little finance knowledge. Please let me know if this information is true. Thanks.

How much do you plan to accumulate to retire and at what age? What kind of monthly income will let you retire peacefully?

Hello grapevine folks, I am a 2024 batch btech Cse , general male candidate from IIIT( 10 year old). Class 12th - 97% (ISC) Class 10th - 96.4% (ICSE) Btech Cgpa - 9.415 (till 6th sem) I am thinking of giving CAT next year but in dilemma that should I go for work experience or not . As iims do prefer people having work experience. And what percentile should I aim for getting admission in old IIMs. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone I am a new grad from a Tier-1 institute and would be joining a management consulting firm in Nov. I wanted to ask suggestions regarding what I could do these 3 months to upskill myself as well as learn something productive. I know doing an internship sounds a safe bet or GMAT/CAT prep but want a different perspective and choice. Looking forward to your opinions.
