Advice for switching from SDE to ML/Data fields

Hey guys, so I have been interning at a company for the past 9 months. They have offered me a ppo and I will most likely accept it. But my interest lies in the ML field or some data fields such as data engineering. Can anyone advice me how do I go about it? Like should go for masters(my undergrad degree is not CS or some pheonix branch). Should I learn on my own and keep giving interview. Or should I take some experience in sde and then switch? Keep learning Software engineering. Learn ML on the side. - learn basics of linear algebra, probability, stats and multivariable calculus - pick up a ML course, ideally the latest one from univs like Stanford, CMU etc. - focus more on deep learning - pick up one of NLP or computer vision to really master the craft - learn how to design ML systems(swe will help here), read desining ML systems by chip hyuen Good ML engineers and researchers are also great software engineers in my experience.

I don't think ml/data roles are worth it unless you are working in research or core ml.

I have less interest in SWE as compared to ML. So for me thats why I think of switching.

If they have offered you software engineer then please continue. In parallel learn ML in your free time. Understanding core software development concepts can late bring you an advantage while doing ML.

Salary in core ML/DS fields like MLE, DS, Deep Learning Engineer etc is much lower than that of Software Engineering. Except Software Engineer in Data, Cloud or Analytics. It's a new field where both DSA, ML/DS/NLP based on company, data analysis knowledge is required. Salary equivalent to SDE profiles

If you are working in that field, than you have the real life experience where no such source works. If we take your example also, Entry level SDE roles for faang also are above INR 40 lakhs and above. And for a Data scientist, MLE etc? Around INR 15-25 lakhs and even less than that in major companies. I am taking about entry level positions, Post that TC for both Software Engineering and Data science, MLE is same! (As this post is about entry levels positions)

What's after Data Analyst post?

I am a fresher working as a Data analyst in a growing startup. My current role doesn't include much of coding just python and SQL and sometimes little bit ML work. Currently handling 2 projects, and some of PM work to define some roadmaps. I like engineering and coding in whole and want to know more. So do I switch to some SDE role or is there are more paths after Data analytics? I know ML, DL and NLP but not sure will it be a great choice to make career primarily in Data science. after reading the comments I am more confused coz I’m very stubborned with one decision that SDE is not the work I want to do , I really wanna get in ML based jobs like Data Science or AI Engineer or Data Analyst… I know market is not good for data Engineers now but I wanna settle in Other foreign countries for my livelihood and so wanna get in to this field but then a question arises , should I do my masters or work in a company for 1-2 years to gain experience and then search for foreign companies, can someone help me really need one

I want to switch my role to a Data Engineering job as my current role is not having enough job opportunities outside. I am planning to learn tools on Data Engineering. Like the Data Frameworks: Airflow,SSIS,Azure Factory And Dataworks like Snowflake,Databricks,Postgres I need some guidance on which tool to start learning and if I plan to learn these tools for the next 6 months.
