This city’s traffic will always be in shambles! Nothing can improve it.
One of the reasons as stated is to increase the use of public transport. But what public transport? There are no metros in the areas they mentioned. Buses are almost always crowded and also do not have any direct links, so a few people may have to change two or three buses.
A majority of the people would then either choose an Uber/Ola or just pay the congestion tax, whichever’s lesser. If it’s the former, wouldn’t this mean owners of two wheelers switching to a three/four wheeler which in turn would lead to more congestion?
They have compared Bangalore to cities like Stockholm, London, and Singapore which have better public transportation.
If they really wanted to save the environment, cycling would be a great option, but in flooded and terrible roads?
They recently made public transportation free for women which didn’t sit well with the unions. Is this to make up for that loss?
I’m genuinely curious to know the logic here. Can anyone please help?
