I am planning for a switch. I read on the internet that to crack a MAANG or some company of that level you need to have a good understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms(DSA).

How to start with DSA preparation. I see there are a lot of resources. I feel overwhelmed by seeing all of them. 
Are there any good structured courses which teach DSA.

I am a JAVA backend dev, currently in TCS with 5.5 yrs of exp. I want to switch to a Product now. My dev skills are good. I have worked in few projects. With this many years of exp, the expectations are too high now, System Design, Kafka, Jenkins, Docker and DSA on top of that. I don't know how to start, once I start preparing DSA I feel like I am missing on reading system design and other stuff. Also, I don't feel confident about my DSA skills. Are there any devs here who were very bad in DSA but are very confident now. Please share your experiences in comments. Since I already have so many years of exp, this is my last chance to switch to a good product company. Please guide.

I'm new to DSA world and want to start preparing for the same. I'm holding 7.5 yrs of exp into automation QA and want to join MAANG. Any resources from where I can start the preparation from and what all is required apart from DSA?

As a Software Engineer with 6+ years of experience, can you guys please guide me on preparation for DSA. Consider my current knowledge about DSA 0.

How should I start?
Approx how much time it will take?
How should I know what topics are more frequently asked at my level?
Any DSA plan for 0 to hero in DSA?

Apart from DSA I’m also preparing for HLD and LLD and I’d love to have recommendations from you folks about how to prepare these and where to prepare these from?

DSA prep for interview

I have 6 YOE as QA. First 3 years I was into manual testing and now since past 3 years, I am an SDET with tech stack- python, pytest , playwright, selenium. I am planning for the job switch now. I have not used much of DSA in my work. However I understand DSA is a must to clear interviews. 

I need help in preparation. From where and How to start the preparation?

I have 2 years of experience with Javascript. I work mostly with UI's but I'm also very comfortable with Node js. I'm not looking to switch jobs. For now I want to learn DSA basically to become a better developer and a problem solver. Any approaches on how do i start? Do i need a statically typed language for better understanding?

I'm a Frontend Dev who wants to learn DSA

Hey guys, just need your advice I have been 5 years of experience at startups and have open source contributions too and now I want to switch to some good product based companies including FAANG with some good WLB.

I am well versed with topics but I am not very sincere with doing DSA and leetcode regularly. I haven’t practiced daily and now I am looking to do it, but I lack motivation and get frustrated easily.

I am thinking to do a DSA course on weekends, will that be good? Any advice is recommended.

Hey 

I joined infosys in oct - 2022 and now it’s been 1.8 months. My tech stack is MEAN stack but I was on bench through the year, recently got into a project but for only 4 months. I developed and learned by my own and gained a better knowledge on angular.
Now the situation my company has made for me that I need to switch asap, within a month or two.

Can anyone suggest me how to prep specifically so that I get offers from other company.

My DSA skills are gone and feel like I need to learn again from basics.
I have knowledge about angular.

Can anyone suggest me how much DSA I should learn and focus right now to clear interviews.
I’m planning to get a grasp over python and start doing DSA questions in that plus polishing my angular skills too. 
I have basic knowledge of node.js MongoDb too.

Will I’ll be able to switch within this time frame?

Please can anyone guide me through it so that I can plan smartly and can switch.

How to prep for switch?

I am currently working as a front end engineer (ReactJS) in an Indian Service based company. I have a pretty solid front end knowledge. My end goal is to be a full stack developer. So I was about to start backend engineering. But also I want to switch to a nice product based company (end goal is ofcourse MAANG type company). 
Currently I have 1+ years of experience.
It's not like I don't enjoy DSA, I enjoyed Development over DSA. My DSA skill is very basic for now (I know arrays, hashmap, two pointers thats all)
So My question is when to start DSA?
Because If I start DSA now then I need to at least give 1 year to DSA. But then I will not be able to do Backend.
Most people also say not to do dev and dsa in parallel.
So suggest something to me.
Should I do Backend first then do DSA or
Should I do DSA then do dev
Or should I do both at the same time??

I know I need to invest 3 to 4 hours daily if I need to be a full stack engineer with strong DSA skill. I am ready to be in discipline.

Right time to start DSA

I’m a college grad from IIT in CSE. I haven’t done any competitive coding or any proper coding during my college days for that matter. I have lost confidence in myself for some reason. I had taken up a business job but left it in a few months because I thought I could do better. 
I want to do competitive coding but as soon as I open my laptop, anxiety kicks in. 
I need guidance on how to proceed and what recourses should I use. 
I don’t want to waste my degree as I feel I can do better than my previous job. 

Please help me on fighting my demons.

Confused about how to proceed in life

I'm a 2021 graduate. I left my first job at a small startup in Bangalore in January because they refused to pay my salary and my hike for 3 months (promotion was done but just on paper, they were paying the old salary). 

I'm not good at DSA at all even though I handled multiple projects related to security and development tools using Go and have a good understanding about the language. But I'm not good at DSA at all, I don't have a leetcode account or solved any DSA problems yet. 

If I want to get a job I have to start DSA from scratch which will take a minimum of 4-6 months. Which makes me unemployed for 1 year. 

I'm scared whether this is a red flag in the recruiters point of view. And create a situation where recruiters intentionally try to hire me for less salary.

What should I do? Should I leave my current domain and switch to other technical jobs that may not require DSA during interviews or spend time to learn enough DSA to clear interviews? 

If there's any way to get some guidance from senior engineers or people who had similar issues like this in the past, please let me know.

Scared of having a career gap

I am originally from a small town and did my BSc in Computer Science. My relatives and neighbours used to say that I am a good for nothing freeloader who is a "nikamma" - unemployed. It was very hard to find a job back then and I used to have deep anxiety about it. My only dream was to get my fathers appreciation. He is my biggest hero. 

So I started preparing very hard and practiced my skills. The only one who supported me was my mother who used to give me tea even at 3 in the morning while I used to study. Even my own father gave up on me and from time to time he used to say that if you are living under my roof then you have to follow my rules. He also used to say that look at the neighbour's ladka who got a government job and he asked me to prepare for Bank PO.

So I moved out from my town and shifted to Gurgaon where I got a small PG with some money that my mother had given me. I also started freelancing on Fiverr and which led me to improve my communication skills. Finally, when I got my Google offer letter I felt like I made it. It was the best response to all the taunts by people around me. 

I suddenly became a superstar in my town with people congratulating my parents. I bought my mother gold bangles and dad a new watch with my first salary. I was looking at my offer letter today and it reminded me of all the hardwork I did to achieve this moment.

This is the story of my life. In case anyone needs help. I am ready to provide support to aspirants here as a way to give back.

I work in one of Big 4 companies as a front-end developer. I am currently learning the backend as my project doesn't have any FE work. There are lots of politics now in my team as compared to the previous year, i was denied a well-deserved promotion for some weird reasons, and the hike was low too. Decided to do bare minimum work now and focus on studying for switch.

Could anyone please help on how to get started on preparation for DSA and what other things to focus on to secure a product based company?

Frontend Engineer

I'm a backend engineer with 6+ YoE.

I have never had interest in solving DSA problems. I started off as being very bad at it- I did understand the technical details behind various data structures and algorithms, but never had that passion about applying it to various leetcode problems. Over time, I have got better with DSA, but I still can't say I am at a great level- I still often struggle with Leetcode-medium problems.

I am confident of being a decent engineer- with a nice mix of tech and soft skills and an interest in building things. I also have some aspiration of joining a Faang company (or other such top-level company); but I feel overwhelmed at how "good" it requires you to be in DSA.

So, I wish to know- how good do I need to be at DSA before I can realistically apply at such companies, given my YoE. And, how may I possibly gauge how far away I still am from that "required level"?

How much DSA preparation is enough?

I am .NET developer with 4 YOE. I am working in a service based company in a tier-2 city. What should I do? revise DSA or learn Frontend? I am planning to switch.

Hi, I'm a software engineer with close to 6 YOE. This is my second company and I feel pretty stagnant here working for 3 years and see no growth. I've started preparing. Is DSA still being asked in the interviews even for people with experience ? How many rounds are there usually and what is being tested? Your advice would be very much appreciated :)

I am a backend engineer with a 9 year exp. In my fourth company now. Started with 5 lpa, now at 31 Lpa. 
Mostly have worked in normal companies only. I am from one of the NITs. 
I am not good at DSA. Everytime I have to switch a job, my resume gets shortlisted  and I get call via naukri. 
The things is in these last 4 job searches I have been rejected 100 times. I have been rejected by almost all the companies, 
Service now 5-6 times, oracle 5-6 times, Walmart 2 times, goldman 3 times, jpmorgan 2 times, Amazon 4-5 times, arcesium 3-4 times, msft 2 times. 
Apart from these, I have been rejected by adp, celigo, phenom, barclays, flipkart etc. 

Every time, I want to change a job, I'll get rejected by all the big companies and then will get selected at some normal company with a hike and will join them. 
I am at my fourth company now, and again I am searching for a job. Have already been rejected by GS, service now, phenom, epam, ice, demandbase in last 2 months. 
Every time it is the same DSA. 

I try studying, will do decent amount of leetcode prior to interviews. Last two months I am doing leetcode from strivers sheet. 
But same question I'll do here, and in interview will fail. Example I have done sorted array rotation, shares sell and buy, rain water trapping, and was asked the same question in interview and couldn't solve. 

I also want to earn more and get into some big company and stay there for some times, what shall I do? 

My concerns are, I am getting lesser calls this time compared to the last few years, I can't be switching job every two years. 
Want to join a big company and earn more.
