I used to work in python only for data though. Currently learning django to help me write the code for my idea. 

I'm working on an idea that would mostly be a web app.

Users can perform actions on the webpage. Imagine interacting with screens and they would just be images, I'd write the other custom logics.

Hey everyone,
So, I'm currently a Test Engineer/Test Lead and have around 10 years of total IT experience (mix of Mainframes Application Development/Technical Business Analysis/QA), and my boss recently asked if I'm up for switching to development. One of our company's new product is built on Django, and they need someone who is good with Python and JavaScript. I'm not exactly starting from scratch, but I've never really done web development in a professional setting. Anyway, I have a few months to get up to speed.

1. Any suggestions on Django, Python, and JavaScript online courses or tutorials to get a deep understanding? I have already done a lot of tutorials earlier and know the basics. Also, not sure if it's worth doing it again.

2. Any cool projects that I should do to get the hang of these languages?

3. If any of you have switched from testing to development, what were the big challenges you faced? How did you deal with them?

4. Any tips on how to speed up this learning process?

I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Thinking of building a collaboration platform as a side project. Kinda like slack. If you were me, how would you folks start? What stack would you prefer?

How would you build slack from scratch?

A bit of intro:

I started my career in ops in manufacturing, with time I have moved to tech (across various roles ops, marketing, product, project, analytics and eventually sales).
I have sold SaaS, SaaS+Service, and was part of the team that closed reinsurance deals.

What I am making:
I have created a bit of python programs for data analysis, Twitter bots, web scrapping, etc (it's on my website - https://talesofss.com/ ), but don't know how to make web apps. 

I am here to learn:
What do I have to learn to be able to create small online projects

1. Like if I want to create an online platform where people can share their excel sheets and the program does the analysis for them, and output is a few Excel files - know a few US orgs that could pay for this

2. Webp converter online (I created a Mac app, but don't know how to bring it online) - this is to make my life easier 

3. Publish a database but only the first 100 is visible, post which users have to share their email IDs to view the rest - this can be used for user acquisition/monetization

I tried Java, css, html with ChatGPT but still don't know how to publish the results online

Currently doing a course on AWS EC2 but it's too confusing

Looking for someone to either help me build these or point me in the right direction :)

I work in a startup. We're currently on an ongoing pivot. I started working here as a founding engineer. I have worked here for around 2 years now. Majorly i worked on frontend part with react native (which is totally a new thing for me when i joined). During my tenure here there was no senior engineer who could review my work and give me the skills i required to build my career. Our founder was happy if the app was working fine. During the initial phase we needed to launch the app as soon as possible so i quickly learned the basic things i needed to make an app with react native. In this time all of these things (js and web world) are very new to me as i was coming from developing native android apps with java. Now im trying to switch so that i can work with a team of experienced engineers. While attempting interviews for frontend engineer, I found that whatever I've done in my current job was nothing more than a college project and I really didn't got to learn any industry level stuff. I'm feeling like im still a fresher out of college. 

I tried working on my frontend skills but as we all know it's a very huge field. Html, css, js, frontend frameworks, hell lot of libraries.

I'm feeling so overwhelmed.

Whenever i attend a new interview i get to know new concepts which i never knew exist.


Any suggestions for me guys?

Have tried a few apps but there’s too much clutter. 
- Discord: Too many channels, unorganized & cluttered
- Reddit: Used it long time back but not so good for productive discussions
- Twitter: Frontend folks discussing same stuff over and over.
- Slack: Haven’t tried yet. Do have have public communities there?
- LinkedIn: Not interested in illusions created by fancy tech jargons to outscore other professionals.
- Grapevine: Not ideal for my use-case.

Is there any genuine app you know that can enable me to discuss tech stuff in software engineering?
