I'm reading Zero to One by Theil. It's nice but it seems it the kind of book that states the obvious like it's a secret and makes the reader feel good that they knew it before hand.

Nice observation. I discontinued reading it, have to pick up some time. It has some great content i feel

Although I thoroughly enjoy delving into backend architecture and databases, I find myself at a crossroads. Heard many discussions among seniors of the rise of Deno, Go, and Rust, suggesting a shift from JavaScript. In view of a long-term perspective, I am contemplating dedicating time to learning an additional technology and engaging in side projects. I realised this recently when I went through my old bookmarked videos and realised I learnt it wrong. 

Now i know better from my experience, but it's quite shocking, that a beginner might be still watching these videos and learning it wrong.

Most content about system design and distributed systems is far from the truth, it includes all your famous YouTubers including Gaurav Sen etc 

e.g wait till you realise that ACID guarantee doesn't mean anything and C-consistency is a made up concept.

we want an easy way out by just going through videos, and even the YouTuber can't make it complex, otherwise no one will watch their videos.

The real knowledge is still in those famous books, read those, otherwise you sound like a phony who just knows buzzwords, which is very easy to catch in an interview.

Most of the content taught by tech youtubers is simply wrong/incomplete

Senior Software Engineer

As a fresher in an IT company working as a backend developer, I am really confused with how to proceed ahead for growth in my career. 
I have two options : 

1.Learn Frontend and be Full stack dev
2. Move to devops 

I need advice which would be more feasible and why. Keeping interests aside as of now since I would be new to both domains.

I’ve been noticing a trend lately and wanted to see if anyone else feels the same. After about 10 years in the tech industry, it seems like a lot of us are shifting towards people or product management roles instead of continuing deep technical work. I get that management roles often come with perks, but it feels like we’re losing out on technical growth.

With how fast the tech space is changing and AI taking over a lot of things, it feels even more crucial to stay updated technically. Is anyone else struggling with this? Is it any different in startups versus big tech companies? How are you dealing with it? Are there ways to stay technically sharp while still advancing your career? Any decision making framework/parameter to evaluate career growth?
