I genuinely don’t feel like we are hosting a cricket World Cup in our country this year. In 2011, the hype and craze around us hosting was way higher. Stadiums were better filled them for other games apart from Indian games, while I saw at least 5-10% empty seats even for the India v Aus game even though everything was apparently sold out in minutes on BMS? 

Is it a PR/marketing problem or is the hype from the sport just not great anymore?

Many in India feel that govt is doing a lot for athletes and sports. But that is a wrong notion.
Making stunning stadiums, sending air conditioners, etc is not the real deal.
In fact it is done with tax payers money to fill the pockets of their corrupt nexus of shell companies who earn a lot in the name of making stadiums, sending ACs etc.

Govt. has failed to create an ecosystem of any single sports like it has failed to create ecosystem for scientific research, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics etc.
Whatever achievement we see in sports...comes out of wrestling ecosystem in haryana, chess ecosystem in Tamil Nadu, badminton academies of gopichand & Padukone, jsw sponsored sports academies for hockey, abhinav bindra self financed his gold, etc. 

Govt has not built even a single sports training infra...even if it has, it has failed and not heard of.
All it does is short term investments which will make to the news.

Indian govt has 0 long term investment in any field. Excellence in IT field is due to private players leveraging cheap labour and not because of IITs. India is the only large country which still shamefully buys defence equipments from other countries and cannot make its own.

We as a society are too ethically and culturally inferior to other big nations and don't stand anywhere close to them. But our pride and ego is more than them.

3. Games craft , rummy circle rigged card distribution
4. Tradex , Probo Mostly will shut down 
5. Rummy apps , Better opinion , tamasha and other small companies are planning to shut down RMG part
6. Nazara acquired RMG companies are unable to operate 
7. Octro is closing the RMG app.

Hi all,
I have been wondering for the past few days, why we have such a poor sporting culture in our country?

China used to be like us in the 80s, with very few medals in the Olympics (if I consider the Olympics medals as a metric). But they worked really well and efficiently towards the problem by forming clusters of games, healthy competition, focusing on more medal oriented sports (badminton, swimming for instance).

I wonder if it is only government policies and bureaucracy which has destroyed the sports culture?
What are other things which we can correct at our level if possible?

Or do we continue like this only in the future?

Does anyone here know about any tech startups trying to work on cricket or other sports in general. In case you're building something and want to discuss, I would like to hear about it and if possible contribute towards building it.

Tech Startups Related To Cricket

Sure, football's a bigger sport globally but we have won 2 consecutive medals in hockey. And yet, no one gives a crap about hockey when the Olympics are not on. 

I'm no better. 

It is weird to me that Sunil Chhetri is a star without having played at the top level, and hockey player with Olympic medals rarely get any recognition. Nothing against football or Chhetri but this is quite sad.
