Company not giving salary. Made a mistake and joined them

So I joined a company through a referral. The referral is from a good friend that I trust. After joining the company, there were issues like a laptop taking time to get delivered etc.

After 2-3 weeks, my RM, the CEO started showing the true colors. He started accusing me of cheating during the interview assignment. Said, I should work on my personal laptop (I don't have any) and when I told him that I don't have it, he just simply mocked me for it.

The issue is, he is not giving me a salary now. I have been connected with him and HR and all they are doing is making this in me. There is no official notice on salary delay or anything. What should I do? I am a bread earner and my family depends on me. Please help. How should I proceed about it

It's distressing to hear about your issue. I would advise drawing an email trail to raise your concerns with HR. If unsuccessful, consider seeking legal counsel. Simultaneously, explore other job opportunities. Reach out for social or financial aid if needed, and remember, your mental health is important. Let friends and family support you through this.

exploring opportunities. Applying everyday. unfortunately, interviews are not getting scheduled though. I have changed the job before and it usually takes time to land one. What's more distressing is idk how I am going to manage things back at home.

Leave them, stop picking their calls and email. Lookout for a new job quickly. Never mention about it to new employer. Talk only about your last company and skip this one.

Don't you think there is a chance to get a piece of my hard earned salary? It would really help me. I am not sure.

You can invest in energy as much as you want to in getting the money which is not gonna come through or you could invest it in getting a new job.
Running behind them will take away peace of your mind, bring anger, agitation and sorrow etc.

You have to tackle this strategically.

  1. Look out for opportunities if you are not connected to the mission of the current company or don't see a future. It's difficult at your current position, but this will be necessary.

  2. Be open and confident. While we don't know what exactly was the relationship and terms of your role, if you know you haven't made any mistakes, state your financial and career position to your manager/HR and seek for an actionable response with TATs. Don't use foul language. Be diplomatic and professional here. Since you said you were referred, it might harm the person based on your actions. Be with good terms even when parting companies.

  3. Seek legal opinion. While you might not get your salary in guarantee, a legal opinion will help you with the rights you have. Could be a learning as well on how to sign offers in the future companies. This is very important for both parties and one should read it thoroughly and ask changes on draft if you have disagreements or new clauses to be added.

Good luck.
