Hi everyone, I'm a software engineer with 2 years of experience. I've worked on building mobile apps and have some good experience with Python too.

For 2024 spring semester, I will be moving to the US for my masters. Currently, I'm serving notice period in the company, and I have around 4 months before I start my studies.

I'm trying to decide whether to take up a contract role or focus on improving my skills and contributing to open source projects. I want to choose the option that would be best for my career. Any suggestions?

1) Will this affect my future career prospects?

2) In order to join product companies (both FAANG & Startups) do I have to have open source contributions? 

3) If I were to contribute how should I tell recruiters about it (should I mention it in my resume and how should I mention it)

How to get better in ML Domain

YOE - 5 Profile - business Analyst, good with SQL, average with python and ML concept, but worked on python and ML in my previous company. 
Requesting advice to get into machine learning or gen ai profile. Courses or anything else that would help. I understand it's a 6 months to one year journey.... Anyone who has transitioned recently kindly help.
