How to become a GenAI Developer?
I am an ML enthusiast and have been learning Reinforcement Learning and other Algorithms to shift my profile to ML engineer. But as soon as I started applying for jobs, every job is looking for people who have experience in GENAI, LLMs, etc. So I want to know, how can I become one?
I recently switched job and have experienced this first hand. Every other company is looking to build eitheir own llm or a RAG supported platform. Mostly driven by the hype.
In my opinion you could
1. Start learning either NLP or CV and quickly switch to models with generative capabilities in the same. Do not try to do both.
2. Try and build something like a RAG bot (or some AI agent) using llms like GPT or Llama and highlight the same in your CV. Your software engg skills would come in handy here. Although, you still have to learn the basics of NLP, Transformer models etc
3. OR, Wait out a couple of months and apply for the 'real' ML engg roles in big tech or good product companies. These companies are not gimmicky, they are aware that gen AI is pretty new and not many people are skilled in it. They expect you to know ML basics, MLOPS and ML system design.
I have been through this journey and still am. Let me know if you'd like to know more.
Thanks a lot for the guidance.
I have to check about RAG as I have heard this for the first time. Currently I am trying to make a project using Llama 2 for my CV and then will start applying again.

Hello,
I am also preparing for data scientists job ..I know python, Advance ML, NLP and some basics of DL. I have three questions
1- apart from traditional ML and DL projects what should I learn to get a good job ... Like as you say terms like RAG , Lllma and LLMs and Gen AI. Please tell me about this
2- for data scientists is MLOps is essential skills ??.. cz in my course ( ineuron) now they have started teaching MLOps.
3- and what about hugging face .. should I work on it.
Itna sab padhna hota hai to as a fresher it is really tough to learn and manage all the things.
Thanks
