Just landed a mid-level full-stack job in Bangalore through an agency that brings foreign companies here. But, plot twist - my CTO, who's abroad, axed the senior frontend devs and now wants me to handle some complex frontend stuff. To be honest, frontend isn't really my forte, and these overseas senior devs are super into code quality and reusability, not just churning out features.

Feeling a bit in over my head and could really use some tips on how to up my frontend game, especially to meet those high standards. Any advice or resources would be awesome!

I need help with deciding where do I go from here? Do I deep dive into frontend? Do I try to move to full stack?

Things to consider:
- I am from a non CS background
- frontend in India seems to be a bit saturated, especially for entry/mid level roles.

I'm a software engineer with 2 years of experience. I feel like I don't have programming acumen and can't understand things like others. I really struggle at my job and has to give extra time even weekend to perform at my job. 
I don't understand big codebase, integration services.
I feel like quitting this job and do something else but can't gather enough courage as job is paying well and paying my education loan also.

Please suggest what should I do?

Not able to perform

I am currently employed in a startup where I work in the frontend part of the application written in Angular. How should I approach backend development. Is this even needed or just FE knowledge is enough for EM/architect roles.

Frontend guy here - How should I approach backend development

Hi folks, I am a frontend engineer. A bit of background about me:

- Exp: 4 years
- Tech: Over the years, I have only worked on frontend and some build tooling. For all these years I have only used JS/TS and ReactJS to the point where I currently feel handicapped in other languages.

My problem with frontend:

Most companies I have worked till now except for one, frontend is just converting the UI designs to UI code as fast as possible. Most companies do not offer much time to think about different cases for a component and write it well. Its mostly, if it works then push. Contrast to this, BE does get proper design + arch to ensure it scales well with future requirements.

Why I am thinking of backend/fullstack roles?

Seems better from future point of view. Progression is clear in BE, lot more roles it seems, interview process is mostly standard. In FE its sometimes FE releated, some DSA etc. So never sure what they going to ask. Also, progression in FE is bit unclear and how to make a case for it.

What are my options?
1) In my current company, BE is Java + Springboot, I have started doing some BE tasks here and there but seems Java + Springboot is a mammoth and I dont know if I will be good enough for a switch of roles with this experience. Switching inside the company feels a far fetched dream since there are far less number of FE devs and I have to mostly work on FE tasks one after the other because of scarcity.

2) Learn and do some side projects in Node.js since already familiar with JS and also had done some small APIs(freecodecamp) based on nodejs in the past.

3) Learn python, good for backend software dev + good for ml also going forward. Seems easier than Java to get started with django.

Primary confusion between  2 & 3 is, does side project make any difference when switching for roles or will actual job experience with option 1 be of more value even though it will take a long long time? 

Please suggest if someone has switched roles before.

Moving from Frontend to Backend/Fullstack roles?

Last September I was hired as an UI Engineer in a startup in Gujurat. This is my first job in tech. They said that you will get to work on client as well as in-house products. My first task was to fix their in-house product, so that they can re-launch it. Successfully did that. Then they started searching for client works. And till now (March) they have given 4 client jobs to work on, none of it was related to Frontend or UI. One was related to AI, another one was related to a Node Backend, and the current one is related to 3D technology. So what should I do now, it almost feels like a scam. Leaving a company in 4 months doesn't feel right but I can't see any learning or improvement here in my domain. And the worst part is this jobs are brought by my CTO fooling the client that the developer who is going to work on this had 10+ years of experience.

Is this a scam or this how the tech service industry works

I have 10years of work ex totally into FE.
Outside India, there are a lot of IC roles and Architect roles for Frontend Devs but not the same in India.
Wonder what role do they transition to given they have been totally into FE.
Moving to Backend doesnt make sense IMO.
Manager option is for Backend folks.
Almost all the openings I see for Tech Managers, their requirements revolve around backend tech.

What do Frontend devs do in India after 12-14years of work ex?

Hey guys! So I recently graduated from a non tech background but I have been coding since the last 1.5-2 years and have made some decent projects in frontend(react) (also past internship experience in Python/data analysis)

But I know with the current market conditions and my background getting a full time role might be a huge ask so my plan is to get an internship at a decent startup and then eventually convert to full time.

Do you guys know some decent startups that follow this exact model for freshers? Thanks!

Advice To Fresher Applying For Frontend Roles

Hi all senior engineer

I am also an engineer with just 2 years of experience. Recently joined startup and getting so damn tight deadline. The project I'm working on is relatively small but there are so many states update and too frequently.
They don't have any low level design or high level design or any data pipeline or message broker service. Just figma arts which I'm suppose to implement but the state functionality is complex and not able to deliver within time.

What should I do?

Please advise me if you are seeing this doesn't matter good or bad.

I'm good at all the things (I'll say better but I lost my confidence after the incident ) I'm doing but not able to get all functionality done on time. From data science team all API's ready. So please suggest me some idea with your experience.

So I am working on frontend for past 1 year, and work has become monotonous and I always wanted to be in backend, my team only works in frontend.

What should I do because I don’t want to be stuck in frontend forever, people around me are saying if I stay here for a year more, I will be stuck in frontend and it will be very hard for me to switch to backend.
