I am in 2nd year in college pursuing computer science..so far most of the time i do competitive programming and sometimes web development..i am working hard but because of the never ending depressing posts on LinkedIn and blind about layoffs and recession plus no hiring in big tech..i feel that all my hard work will be not worth it in future..also the people have made this wonderful field a joke by this standup comedians who joke about engineers every time.........i really want to contribute to this society and earn great amount of money as well but the hope is decreasing day by day..

You are just in 2nd yr. All this recession and layoffs will be long gone by the time you graduate. Just focus on preparing well for interviews and gain some internship experience. Try for some open source experience as well. Don't worry.

Online media focused more on doom and gloom. It's not like that everywhere. Granted economy is down, it will eventually bounce back up. Also I know several folks comfortably making 70L+ in this economy. It's not as bad as you see on these sites.
