Don't ask for irrelevant features before thinking of the culture of the team. The leads and managers throw super ultra complex features to SDE-1's and when they can't get it done. Toxic leads and managers throw them into PIP. Think about the complexity and let the leads and managers know that this is complex to assign more people to it. And don't ask for irrelevant improvements when the features are released or after it. You sound cool in front of the management. But the person who needs to execute will get depression, anxiety and what not. So think in terms of what's really necessary. I can recommend a company to build a rocket that will help them get billions of dollars, but only the people who build needs what it takes, apart from talking all day and thinking I did it, I made this feature. No you PMs didn't, it's the Dev's the engineers. Don't take it personally it's just for some PMs and also goes to a lot of designers also and QAs ( FU )👍🏻

Sometimes PMs want to change the flow of way things working. They often say it's a small change and will not take much time. Unpopular Opinion: It's a great time to be a PM

No, I'm not talking about the job market. That's dog shit -- barely any vacancies, and engineers earn 25%ish more. However, in a world with 10x better Co-Pilots and other GenAI tools, problem identification is going to be every employee's moat. 'Tech-Enabled' Business PMs will have the brightest futures. There's already a rise in PM-led vs Eng-led startups. This will become clearer 5-10 years down the line. Also, supply-demand is not as skewed as you think. Everyone thinks this job is easy, and hence, a bunch of folks are aspiring PMs on LinkedIn. I believe quality PMs are still rare (personally have a long way to go). Would love to hear more. I'm young in my career and maybe naive but this is what I feel.

What the devil is PMs business in search solutioning man? They talk to engineers from another team to understand the solution and then explain that solution to another set of engineer/ds team and brainstorm on what the solution should be. The disconnect is massive in this communication gap. Why d fck should PMs discuss a search solution? Their job was done if they connected 2 engineer /DS team. Don't get me wrong, they are putting in hard work to build something, but the disconnect is massive. 2 engineers or Data Scientists can identify the problem in a jhalak. God these PMs sitting in between communication makes things go in useless circles and is a massive unnecessary kachara. All because you are trying to earn ur food in a place u barely belong. Fckin mess

How to cope with bad EM?

Same as title. As a product manager, what to do when your EM is not supportive and passes the buck to you always, doesn't accept mistakes, instead waits for the chance to blame you instead. You can't even escalate, because of course you have only one EM. Of course, your team's EM will not change.
