Clearly something is fishy

Bookmyshow took a terrible decision to introduce queues. And those queues are working like a priority queue. My waiting time increases then decreases then does random stuff.

What the fucking stupid shit did you guys code.

We seldom get asked this question about how do we ensure a highly efficient and robust platform/system that can cater to large number of hits.

Well, Bookmyshow's server was down for the starting 4 mins with a 504. How could they have improved the services to make sure this didnt happen ?

Is it pre allocating high performance cloud resources started up and then switched to at 12PM or having multiple regions to divert and split the huge incoming traffic ?

What are your thoughts ?

I know this is also a more of a System Design scenario, would love to hear people's advice on this.

PS. Unfortunately I didnt get a ticket despite having a 10K queue number. Since by the time I got option to select the blocks, and 2 seats - there were only few blocks left and the seats present in the block were at opposite ends - so had to go back select a different block and there also it so happened to be the case.

I feel like Zomato would make more robust systems capable of handling so much traffic. Its surprising that BMS hasn’t been able to build such a capability even though theyve been in the business for >15 years. 

And its not a big issue either. These problems of simultaneous traffic have already been solved by those ecom platforms for their big billion day sale type events. Wonder why it was such a dogshit experience trying to attend your favourite concert

I wish they gave the ticket sales to Zomato instead of BMS

In India, particularly in Bengaluru.

Work here means problem they are solving.
Salary includes ctc, perks and stocks.
Culture here means work-life balance.

Ceteris paribus, I wanted to know how much of a difference does being in Bengaluru make interms of future job opportunities

Are there a lot of walk-in interviews for companies based out of there, job fairs etc? Is there a subconscious or otherwise preference for candidates already based out of Bengaluru?

Also, how is Bengaluru in general for a 24M, single, introvert whose daily non-work activities include going to the gym, reading boatloads of stuff and watching sports?
