Totally agree. Staying in the past keeps us stuck in a victim mindset, it's easier to explain away why things are bad than to push forward. Getting into the present and out of old patterns takes serious effort because the mind wants to protect us from failure by keeping things familiar.
That’s why accountability is such a gamechanger. Tom Brady and Michael Jordan took this to another level by even creating imaginary opponents. Brady would make up critics to keep himself motivated, and Jordan was famous for taking even the smallest slights personally just to stay driven. It wasn't just motivation; it was about having a relentless focus on progress.
With the right people or even the right mindset, the daily grind becomes less painful and more rewarding. The pains start to feel purposeful, and you actually start to forget what it was like to play the victim.
