Everyone selling a course of their own

Why engineers can’t be engineers? Such hard selling of courses is really becoming painful on LinkedIn nowadays. Instead of spending time on tech content, these sellers build random stories. Please save yourself from such sellers.

The number of influencers trying to sell their courses on coding and systems design has just went nuts. Anyone and everyone who is working in FAANG / MAANG/ WTFAANG seems to be selling dreams to everyone that this is how you get into and sustain into large scale companies. Once these engineers join after clearing interviews (which are more or less a repeat of the same questions being asked for a thousand times), they find it hard to scale themselves to solve the real world challenges that are thrown at them. And then the complaining starts from all the angles. For the sake of it, FAANG and all other such top tier companies are not gonna help you once your mental peace if completely f…ed up. If you think you are genuinely interested in solving issues at scale, spend some real time learning the basics, how the day to day software you use works, spend some time actually researching and banging your head trying to grasp how things are, because most of the challenging issues you are gonna face in your upcoming career won’t have youtube videos available to explain you why they happen. Stop filling the pockets of influencers to teach you things which you should be putting efforts to learn by exploring yourself. Rant over

I get the idea of marketing yourself is the key factor here but do you think over all that just degrades the quality of content and makes a bad platform as any other ?

I noticed a trend on LinkedIn that people use the layoffs as an excuse to preach others that if you constantly upskill and learn then you will be safe from layoffs. To any freshers who believe in this crap listen this - The folks who got laid off from companies are not in any way underskilled. I've seen my colleagues get laid off at my previous company who were extremely talented and responsible for building products from scratch. These companies layoff people randomly and not skill based. They choose the people who are drawing more salary (often the most skilled) and fire them in the name of cost cutting. So, how does upskilling will help this situation? Note that, the current tech market is unstable and will continue to be for next few years. Upskilling may get you up the corporate ladder but it won't in anyway save you from impending layoffs. The so-called influencers preaching this should STOP. NOTICE this post, how this guy conveniently skipped mentioning Google layoffs in the list, since he currently works ar Google 😆

Most of the people just keep adding so many irrelevant pictures to their posts!! I mean what do they get out of it. If it’s anything to do with regards to the picture, I understand. Other than that, it has become a trend to add photos to the posts. They say they will have greater reach and greater views. It’s so annoying. I don’t understand the difference between Instagram and LinkedIn. Most of the time I feel Instagram is better than LinkedIn. All these so called entrepreneurs have also started doing this shit and feels 😖😣

I am seeing a lot of growthschool ads lately about two courses. Linkedin and marketing using ai, has anyone paid 299 for this and can walk us through what are the things covered exactly. I don't mind paying the amount but is this worth it.

This post is not to hate on free YouTubers who are providing important information and clarity on coding and required skills which our Indian colleges lack but required by industry. But seeing everyone jumping into making courses makes me think how many of these courses are actually good, folks with just 1- 2 years experience teaching MERN, DSA promising high packages to all. We have replaced college professors with engineering freshers who have limited scoped knowledge, right now course selling looks like a way to make a quick buck and quit your job. I understand as a fresher, job is the most important thing and to get a job in this country the easiest and quickest way is coding. Mostly it is the curriculum to blame as it has failed our students and industry. But feels people are finding opportunity in this crisis. What are your thoughts ?
