Feelings & learnings from seeing your product division shutdown?
Experienced fellow PMs: How does it feel to see the product division you worked with getting shut down or kept on just life support? Not at a pod or charter level - like higher level where the head of product suddenly leaves or is asked to leave. This usually happens with all the team members re-staffed to other division. How did you feel, react & how long did you stay with the org? What was the key learning from it that you will always carry with you as a red flag identifier?

I will go first: Experienced this twice at different orgs - both cases was expecting this. Felt really bad, low on energy & motivation. Needed long calls with colleagues acting as support group.
Learning wise - both time RCAs was different:
1. Consumer Project leadership setup from start was doomed to fail and slowed things, needing 3-5x the time to iterate to PMF. Flag: learnt how consumer product projects should be setup and potential pitfalls to expect in its absence.
2. Product & growth strategy setup fail from start - super app of products of contrasting frequency - should have been 2 separate apps.
