All I see is wanted for technical roles . There’s no wanted for finance or accounts role.

Why is there no want for finance/ Accounts role in startup’s?

I was working  as head of data and analytics in  Zepto , Swiggy , flipkart now is razorpay. 
I felt work is of very poorly quality in most Indian startup , no idea of kpi, useless machine learning model , no investment in infrastructure. I think no point in joining any Indian startup as very few founder value data 
Now I have worked in Walmart and Citibank , core strategic decisions  happens in USA and headquarters so Indian office is only pleasing the hq with support work 
Now analytics service like tiger fractal again work is to do sales bring any work and add to top line 
Witch company even more shit show 
So I am delusional and thinking of quitting the data and analytics  field or build something of my own 
Data and Ai in India is just to show off and get investor money and load the pnl without return

Making the switch from Business Analyst to APM. I don't mind the lack of WLB (60-70 hours a week) since I'm very early in my career- all I'm looking for is:

1) Learning
2) Above average but not ridiculously high pay (I'll be more than happy with 80k-1LPM in hand)

Problem is most companies that are more likely to provide me with these are start ups since I'm not from a Tier-1 college and have a B.Sc.

So how do I evaluate a start up's financials before applying there? Most people give vague answers like "check their financials", "figure out how much runway they have left" etc. without going into detail or mentioning any concrete steps.

How do I evaluate a start up before applying there?

Business Analyst

1. You don’t need to/shouldn’t promote someone just because he/she joined your company at early stage to leadership role if he doesn’t have the relevant experience. I have seen people in leadership roles who joined as a fresher and sticked with company for 3-5 years. Yes, they might have done excellent job and you can benefit them in n number of ways but not promoting to leadership role. 
2. Impose financial discipline (even make it one of the core value) from the early stages, even more if you are a B2C company. Spend money on Finance leadership as early as possible, the ROI would be much much higher than you think.
3. Hiring left, right and centre when you need to scale, you don’t need to do that there should be a strong justification for every hire you do. Have seen companies who hired and did a head count reduction in six months of time.
4. Have seen/heard companies dying for not killing a project or vertical in early stage when it is evident that it would not work. So be ready to take these hard decisions.

I'm working with Ernst & Young for around 4 years now. Great working culture, great flexibility, decent salary. I work in international Taxation. 

I haven't started exploring opportunities outside,  but I was curious to understand if I should apply to finance startup companies or stick to Big 4 company.
