Folks at the management level, what's the need for a co-ceo?

This reminds me of the office episode where 2 people were doing the job of one.

Atlassian has 2 for the longest time. Co ceos are generally kept in following circumstances-

-Founder is ceo , but doesn’t want to do “boring” company management and administration, but rather vision and execution. Division becomes like one looks at Sales & Product excellence and the other is operational.

  • A temporary overlap in leadership to expand skills at the top
  • Navigating a transition like a merger or a new CEO
  • CEO succession and transition
