How's the current job market like according to you guys? More specifically in Bangalore. I recently got an offer from an upcoming digital commerce player. They're giving a 35% pay hike and the role is decent. I don't love it , I don't hate it either. My only issue is it's based out of Delhi, a city I'm not a big fan of. To give more context I've been born and raised in Delhi but I've been living away from home for 8 years now. It's a city thats familiar but comes with its down baggage. I find the people too aggressive and don't have much of a circle left there. Got laid off from the Bangalore startup I was working at some 3 months back. I have a decent runway but frankly it's not making too much sense to keep paying rent in Bangalore anymore. I keep oscillating between taking this offer and letting it go. Thoughts?

Saw a couple of posts on X claiming (read boasting) India’s divorce rate as 1%. If we believe this to be true, I think this is majorly because of the show-off nature of the society. Almost every marriage I’ve known about in last 5 years has loads of adjustments on the girl’s end. Things might be looking so good on out (instagram pics of holiday, social validation of money and wealth) but scratching the surface yields another story. There are issues with in-laws, random expectations for girl and her family, dowry (“gifts”) and what not. Even the best folks (guy) I know in corporate give in to this culture silently in the name of not going against their family. Would like to hear thoughts on this. Are there stories of mid-age/new couples worth considering ideal?

I joined AmEx Gurgaon in 2015 in PoS Fraud Strategy as a Business Analyst. I was having a rough time at AmEx as I really wanted to pursue my passion of Mathematics in the US. I had secured an admit at Univeristy of Illinois - Urbana Champaign and UT-Austin in their MS programme and was totally checked out at work.

During my tenure at AmEx, I was mostly bored. Looking at internal tools and spreadsheets was the worst. This coupled with the fact that I was travelling to and fro between Noida and Gurgaon meant that I was commuting a solid 4 hours everyday.

In this time of mental agony, I met this charismatic young woman, she was an Analyst in the Credit Underwriting Team. I don't know what got into me and I asked her out to coffee. We went to the Starbucks in CyberHub the next morning and she was the most delightful personality ever. Sweet and elegant, she talked of her passion with vigour, from her ideals to writing poems. I left that conversation feeling uneasy though. 

She reminded me of what I wanted but also of what I was scared to lose in her. 

We continued to date for the next 6 months in a hush-hush manner to avoid any suspicion at AmEx. I had to start the process of getting my F1-visa for the US and when I told her about it she was extremely disheartened.

In my heart, I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my days with her and life without her was nothing but an empty void. She came with me to the US Consulate Office, and I don't know what got into me but I kissed her.

I knew that I wanted her more than anything else. 

Decided not to give the Visa Interview and applied to ISB with my GRE score. Got into it and ended up becoming a Management Consultant in MBB. 

We got married in 2019 and welcomed our daughter into this world in 2021. 

I wonder what life would've been living in the US. But whatever it would be, it couldn't be better than being in her arms when we come back from work. 

Have faith. Everything will turn out to be okay. Trust the process

I have a job offer as a SDE 1 Frontend role at a Saas startup. I will be 25 in May and have 1.5 yoe and the offer is 17LPA. They have a team of 7 engineers. They have over 1m+ downloads on Play Store but very very small number of paid customers, so negligible revenue. They took funding 1.5m $ last year. I'll get the opportunity to kind of own the new product that we will be building. The job location is Bengaluru. I feel growth opportunity will be there as I'll be one of the few frontend developers but I feel very overwhelmed with the responsibility as I don't have much experience and I fell I'll be incapable of doing it. Also is it worth joining such a risky startup and shift to Bengaluru? I also have to work as a customer support person half day in a week because it's a small startup so you have to play every role.

Please help!!! Because eventually I want to join a bigger company which is well known and reputed because I want to get married and reputation of the company matters a lot in my community and all the knowledge I'll gain working at this small startup would be of no use as for interview prep at reputed companies you need to do DSA LLD HLD for which I believe I'll need around 1+ year just to prep and I feel I won't get time working at this small company due to the workload as the product is not yet built.

I am a 26/M/60+LPA/IITian Software Engineer at a FAANG. I have spent most of my time travelling places with my friends/solo and have dedicated a significant portion of my small life to my career, and I am quite happy with it. I am confused about one thing tho, should I get married? given I am happy living like this, I just want to hear what men have to say on this, I want to know given a chance would you guys get married? If yes how to check if a woman is a fine fit for you? I made a rule to only date a woman who makes at least 70% of my salary OR has an excellent academic background AND should be humble. With these set of rules the chances of finding a girl is almost slim to none given ratio at good colleges and at high paying tech jobs are like that 🤧, I am sure people won't find these rules good, but I want to know if I am being stupid pls correct me it will help me reshape my thinking.

Help me guys 🫡.

Context:
So I'm a lawyer currently working with the Big4 as a senior consultant in the Business Consulting vertical. I've been here for the last 2.5yrs. I'm due for a promotion to manager this year. However due to multiple people leaving who I used to gel well with along with the fact that of late since the last 8-9 months the team I work for has become too pro work instead of looking into individual welfare has got me very dissatisfied with my work life here. 
Mind you that I'm given proper recognition for the work I do in terms of awards, retention bonuses etc. have all happened but since the last 3 months, this dissatisfaction has been brewing in me. Although there has been no negative incident which has happened to me directly, I've been informed of many conversations second hand where seniors have been behaving very rudely and in a rash manner with my other team members. 

All of this led me to thinking that before the going gets tough, I should venture out and look for better opportunities elsewhere. In the midst of my job search, I have received an offer today with a big Indian MNC in the Retail and e-commerce space to join their legal team as a counsel. 

Now that I have this offer, I am contemplating whether I should go for it as it would mean shifting cities with my wife. 

My wife is 50% against me shifting as it would mean leaving the Big4 and she keeps telling me that to tough it out and to see this as an opportunity instead of jumping ship as no indian MNC would be able to provide a better experience and exposure that a Big4 is giving me. 

Salary wise also, I've kept in mind that I won't be shifting unless it's a 30% hike along with relocation payment. However, i have a feeling that this MNC will provide that also if i ask for it. 

So there my ask to the forum here, should I shift or stay? 

Please lend me your wisdom!

P.S. This Indian MNC is big like Tata, Adani, Reliance Big (without taking any specific name)

Need help. How do you not let yourself be affected by your parents' worry about marriage? My parents can't find a suitable match in our caste. They aren't internet savvy, and English isn't their language, so they pester me daily about not looking for matches.
Filtering by caste and my city on Shaadi.com or JS gives only 80-100 profiles, most with requirements I don't meet. This affects me, and I end up shouting at my parents. It's not my fault they can't find someone, or that I seek a progressive family and partner. You can't choose your parents, but you can choose your partner. Why should I settle where I don't feel like myself? I'm losing it.

Now, getting an offer from a startup. Team of 15-16 people. Pre seed stage startup. Will be building product from scratch. Lots of learning. 
Offering decent hike and since i m part of first team...getting small equity too.

Should I join this offer?

I m confused. But also thinking...it is risky but a lot to learn and growth potential is v high.

- Shaadi/Jeevansathi : No one is serious and the more options I get the more end up confused. Likewise for the other side.

Although in online I get plethora of options,I end up wasting time and money.

95% of the matches are doing window shopping.

This is way way harder then getting into FAANG.

I finally got a job offer after being jobless for around 7-8 months now. But the company is offering me the same CTC I was previously drawing. Reasons they sighted were that I've been jobless for a long period now. Is this normal?
The company is good. Has a good set of customers. Has raised good funding recently. Team seems to be good as well. But its the CTC that I'm unsure about.

What to do ?! 

P.S. my prev CTC was also entry level pay, say 40k in hand on avg after all deductions.

I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this question. How common is it to ask extremely personal questions to your potential partner, in an arranged marriage setting, before marriage?
For example, asking for a blood test report indicating tests done for STDs, sexual orientation,medical issues, criminal charges, personal debt, etc? 
One of my good friends(guy) was asked these questions by a woman's parents. He was caught off guard when the lady's parents asked these questions. He answered them though.
I request people who have had similar experiences to share their stories.

I am 27 years old and i am not rich enough like grapevine people. I earn 9 LPA and doing remote job. So parents started looking for girl for arrange marriage. So there is program arranged in our caste where boy and girl has to register beforehand. Registration fees is 500 per person and 400 for booklet. So i paid around 1900 and lunch is also included. This program invites all the prospects under one roof and booklet was given. Booklet has all the details of prospects.So registered candidates can have multiple meetings with different people. As you already guessed it this is problem of supply demand. Female candidates are way less and male candidates are way more. We have so many experiences like girl family just outright reject you on the basis where i live. That girl was doing nothing and have done  bcom. Also one girl family rejected us soon as we just sit for a meeting. Reason dad of female earns 4X than my father income. We had some meetings around 5-15 but hardly any positive response. Female family is able to do 20-25 meetings at  minimum and they can have choice whom to reject just on weight factor too. Shitshow out their for arrange marriage. We had a quarrel at home after coming from program that i wore some multicolour tshirt thats why we dont have further meeting. Also my parents are giving me lecture that i should have wore gold chain and bracelet to impress other people. 

another thing in booklet , boys has to mention salary. There is no mandatory thing to mention salary of girl in same booklet. Also girls are given return gift for just attending the function.

I am turning 25 next month and my family is after me for getting married. They are saying you need to start looking now so that you will find someone in 1.5-2.5yr till then you will be 27-28. But I am not sure whether I am ready or not I am working in an early stage startup so the job is also not stable.
