Grapevine gives me anxiety
Seeing the salary discussion happening among unicorn and top tier tech co. employees, i must confess I get anxiety everytime I check into this app. Like wtf. Am in this co. happily slogging for last 5 yrs getting 18LPA even though I have total experience of 12 yrs working in Privacy and compliance solutioning team. Now i feel like I have been living under a rock. Am already thinking of hopping in April, that's when my promotion, hike and bonus will be settled 😉 Wherever i land next i am sure I will spend another 5 yrs minimum, coz I will be logging out from here. I blame you folks for killing the innocence out of me.
A couple of points:
1. Social media is desgined to give anxiety, I dumped Insta/FB/LinkedIn/Snap last year and my life is so peaceful now. But I understand your point in this case, seems like indeed you were living
under a rock.
2. Don't compare yourself to others, that's the most harmful thing you can do to yourself, but comparing your compensation against the industry average is a fine thing to do (more on that later).
3. Get out of that company as soon as possible, the domain you're in right now has a very high demand, I am assuming for a company like Swiggy, compliance and privacy would be a very small business function. Severely limited growth in terms of learning and compensation.
4. Try any of the big4s, privacy is a hot domain right now, and will remain for years to come. If possible upskill yourself with any of the privacy and compliance frameworks GDPR, FedRAMP, ISO27k etc etc.

Switch to any product based company. Since in any good product based company ctc of freshers starts fron 20lpa

Just came in after a long time to update.
I have changed my job and yes, Its been proven that I have been living under a rock.
I managed to get a little over 35 L + good amount of stocks in a product based company now.
If it wasn't for Grapevine I'd still be living under a rock n happily working there with 22 L by now (yes, my prev company offered me a promotion n a little raise .. cute)
