Grapevine is silently deleting comments without notifying

Context: There was someone asking yesterday about Arpit Bhayani's - unreasonably costly af - System Design course - https://share.gvine.app/3U7TZmYBQeHg9rbB8 / https://grapevine.in/post/ec7b112b-4d8e-42de-ae9d-f94da35de144

I found the mega link of the course on the net and decided to put it in the comments, but now it's gone! I wasn't even notified that it was deleted & why it was deleted. Really disappointed with this app.

BTW, many channels like 'Misc' are missing when creating a post from the web app.

Hey @tzr Sorry about this, you should have received a message about the same in your notification drawer. Will get it checked if you didn't, it should not happen

The comment got deleted because it contained pirated content and can lead to legal challenges if we allow it

About communities not showing up when posting on web: this seems to be a new bug, happening with me too, I'll quickly get it checked and fixed

Sorry that you had to face the trouble, and I hope to do better here :)

  1. Nope, I didn't get any notification
  2. Put a placeholder like reddit that the comment has been deleted instead of completely removing it. Otherwise users reading the comment chain after deletion will be confused

On both of these bugs on priority! On the 2nd suggestion - this makes sense, could definitely help with more transparency and context. I'll add this to our backlog.

Maybe the person themselves deleted it? Notifications don't get cleared for deleted comments
