Help!! I'm in a weird situation

Hello folks, This is a call for every software engineer and broader community. I’m a 30 year old customer support employee who worked at Airtel, MPL, Wazirx and I have 5 years of total experience all things customer support. About a year ago, laid off at Wazirx due to crypto taxes and regulations and it’s been an uphill battle to find a steady job in the market. Did few freelance jobs but nothing is working out. I’m at a point where I’m unable to even get by on monthly basis. I’m a Engg dropout as well, so no degree, no real top notch experience to land other roles. I finally decided to have a crack at software jobs and pivot to whole new field. I have few queries, if anyone can find some time and answer them, it would mean the world to me 1. Do I need a degree to land software roles ? 2. To pivot to coding roles ( no prior experience), where should i start ? 3. There’s an ocean of misinformation out there, I’m really confused on where to start and which courses to take up? ( Planning to take up Phyton ) 4. Can coding help to land freelance jobs ( I know it’s difficult and takes time to reach good enough of a level but I’m willing to work hard and put the hours in ). 5. I know companies doesn’t bet on candidates without a degree but what’s the best way to approach this scenario? Thanks a lot for your time for answering these queries. Highly appreciated 🙏🏼

The sinking ship here is my career. After a decade in IT space, i am feeling myself turning into a useless dino( project management work). I did mba and switch tracks from being a QA, this has put me in a services org where I am doing project management work for client while being passed off as a data architecture manager. This is sooo messed up, I feel I will fail to find a job if my client chucks me out. What are your thoughts on this weird situation

I am Fresher completing college in 2022, non engg, Went through a full Stack web dev course in MERN stack from a popular coding bootcamp. Now have around 6 months experience as a freelancer in product based startups. Currently earning around 35-40k per month remotely with actively looking for Full Time opportunities with atleast 5-6LPA. Looking at current market conditions it's becoming very difficult to get it. I did get few offers all around 3.5LPA. Last year my peers were getting 6-7LPA easily with my skills and background as fresher. Any suggestions from your side. Also if anyone hiring with my skill sets please let me know.

Hey everyone, I am currently working as a security analyst working for a company that provides pentesting as a service to its clients. I am getting paid 17lpa fixed salary. I earn 80-90k from freelancing every month pre taxes. So should I switch or not. It's been 3 years I am in this company and I can't see much growth now. I will be doing the same work. The work is full remote and the culture of company s also nice and workload is fine. What should I do? Should I look for a product based company but most of them call onsite. I want remote work only that is mandatory.

I'm a b sc graduate. I'm currently working in a company for 2.52LPA. In- hand is literally 17.2k. I completed two years in Feb 2024. Now I have 2 YOE but no proper skill, with no proper working experience. I going nowhere staying here in the current company. Should I resign now and upskill or Should I upskill,get another offer and then resign. Please pour your suggestions. Also, please tell which technology can I pick and start learning. I strongly feel like it's now or never.

I have been working as a Software Engineer for one year and eight months, having joined a unicorn e-commerce company right after completing my engineering degree. My technical expertise lies in Java, Spring Boot, and AWS, focusing on backend development. Currently, I am facing a high level of toxicity in my organization and am considering a switch. Despite not having any job offers yet, the heavy workload in my current role is hindering my preparation for job interviews. This situation is leading me to consider resigning first to adequately prepare for a transition. However, I am uncertain and confused about the prudence of resigning without a confirmed job offer. Community please suggest what I should do ?

Hi Folks I'm graduated in 2023 from a Tier 3 College with 7LPA at a startup I'm working here in automation but framework is company built and I'm feeling like I'm learning nothing I want to switch to dev But these DSA and everything scare me I'm good to nothing And I don't see a scope in Quality Engineering And I have a student loan to pay of its of sum around 8 Lakhs I want to switch to a high paying job Because I live with my family I pay rent 15k Sister takes care of groceries and stuff I need high pay job but I feel I'm good to no where What should I do please, tell me how to handle stuff Sometimes I panic and cry alone Need your suggestion please will matter a lot to me 🙏

Background: Tier 1 college, Branch - Civil, 2018 passout, Presently working at a state govt PSU with around 11.5 LPA CTC (salary part only, excluding medical facility which is decent) Things I like at the present job: 1. Home state posting all throughout the career 2. Easy to take leaves and can mostly go home on weekends 3. Good work life balance. Things I don't like: 1. Rural posting (as of now, will change in future) 2. Repetitive kind of work - not challenging enough and hence limited growth (I guess this is true for most PSU jobs) Why thinking of the switch? 1. Civil was never really my passion - just what I got. 2. Taking the job was mostly due to family pressure of doing govt job. 3. Liked programming during school days, did web dev work in college fests. 4. I do like the process of building something up and also learning new things, and am hence beginning to feel tech is something that would suit me. 5. Salary and fomo factors are there but not significant enough. I feel I have not been taking enough risks and hence am not being rewarded enough. I want the thrill of grinding and progressing in life. What's stopping me then? 1. Obviously, the safety and protection of a secured job is difficult to overcome. 2. Family wants me to settle now, but I don't. 3. Recessions like this where layoffs take place even for skilled people due to factors not in one's control. 4. The fact that I might have to take a paycut, to begin in this career. So what should be the path to take? 1. Learn DSA, make projects and apply. Could use my network (although very very few of my batch are in tech, most are in analytics, finance, core sector) to begin somewhere and switch 2. Go for M.Tech in tier 1, and hence aim for product based companies. I am more inclined towards option 2, as the tech job market being what it is now. I am ready to slog for 2 -3 years (mtech preparation, mtech and then placement) Please help me out with your views and suggestion.
