Help me decide.
Hi everyone, I am an engineering student of IT (graduating in 2025) at a tier 2 college (a new iiit), and looking at the market conditions I have decided to pursue mba and have been preparing for CAT 2024 for the past 3 months along with placements preparation.
Although I am pretty confident in my CAT preparation (I am getting decent marks in sectional and full length mocks), still anything can happen. And because of CAT preparation I also can't fully focus on my placement preparation (preparing for ML and data scientist roles).
To do my best in any one of the two I will have to focus on that one thing so pretty soon I will have to choose one, what should I do? Even if I give my best for my placements I don't think I will end up with a job of more than 7-8lpa.(And this is best case)
All of it is very stressful, financially also my family isn't very well to do.
You're being indecisive and not committing enough. Do you think that your competition who'll be joining IIMs, other top MBA colleges would be dividing their prep time this way? It's tough to compete this way.
CAT is in November. When are your placements? A few weeks (5-6) is good enough to prep for any college placements. They also don't happen in a day or two, it's often over a period of a few weeks. Ample time for prep.
Give CAT your best attempt. Rejoice after giving the exam, take a small break, and get down to placement prep. Fortune favours the brave.
On a side note, since when are new IIITs considered Tier-2 lmao?
Thank you sir 🫡
Focus on CAT. Even in the worst case that you don’t do well in your CAT or other MBA exams, I think you’ll have enough time after the exams themselves to apply for jobs off campus.
By that time, the market would hopefully have recovered to the extent that you would get good enough off campus opportunities (7-8 LPA) at least.
Thank you for the advice, I was also thinking the same just wasn't sure.
