How freelancer find work from freelancing platform

Finding clients on Upwork, people per hour, freelancer isnt easy nowadays, whats your preference??

I’m try to get some freelance work for side income and it’s quite difficult to get freelance clients initially through portals.

Basically the title, I am new to freelancing as a web dev. I want clients but on upwork, fiverr is so crowded i can't get any. I heard lots of people get clients from LinkedIn and Twitter. How do they get clients, Is public profile needed or past projects required? I haven't posted my projects on LinkedIn or Twitter.

I'm looking for software developer freelancing jobs. Could anybody suggest me to choose right path to obtain freelancing jobs in software developing?
