I am a software engineer with 1 year of professional experience and about 2 years of experience counting all my freelance gigs as well as internships.

I’ve identified that I’m good at picking up new technologies easily. I’m also very detail oriented and tend to find the moat optimal solutions even though my current position only expects me to follow the PRD provided by my tech lead.

I find that most of the times, I have had to raise my concerns to my seniors for a change of an approach with me being correct almost all the time by the end of the discussion.

Now I feel confused, that maybe I was being underestimated and therefore underpaid by my employer.

Context: I switched to this company about 6 months ago with a package of 12 LPA and got a mere 5% hike to 12.65 LPA during last month with a promotion from being a technical associate -> software development engineer.
During my meeting with the manager, i was told that my performance was ‘very good’ but since its been only 6 months, they are giving me a promotion to match my skills but not give me a good hike.

Any thoughts?

I am a fresher and was assuming that from sde 1 to sde 2 my salary or ctc will at least become 1.75 to 2x of current. But recently came to know that even in promotion its just 10 to 20% increment. To get 1.75 or 2x you will have to switch.

Have you guys ever rejected an offer just because you thought maybe after 1 year I will get something better?

I'm currently working as a consultant. I got an offer in a core product based company that too for a senior position. I got a decent hike approx 40 percent and stocks as well 

I have switched 3 companies in my career of 4 years (currently working in 4th). This is seen as a red flag by interviewers. And I also strongly believe I have some growth in my current company (skill wise not money and promotion). 

But in terms of Promotion or Money I have to wait a lot. The hikes are expected to be around 10 percent max in the month of November and for Promotion I have to wait till next June 2025 probably.

What should I do now please advise 🥺

1) Should I try to get C3B role for my experience
2) For VP - there are 2 components listed
(i) Monthly Performance Pay - 15k

3) What is an emergency fund in TCS.?

I feel 17% VP (4.5L) in total CTC (26L) is too high. The HR said, this 15k monthly will be paid in full. And quarterly pay of 66k (22k x 3) will also be paid. Is this true or some deduction will be there?

Please let me know if this is the norm VP in TCS and share some tips to negotiate for more fixed pay..

I am a backend engineer, working in a tech powered fashion company. 

Total experience: 3.5 yrs
Current CTC : 24 lac fixed, 12 lacs ESOP in 4 years

I joined as a software engineer, this April I will complete 2 years in current company, but Manager saying promotion might not be possible due to current situation and less promo slots available. 

I have been quite a good performer last 2 years , building a crucial project from scratch and handling everything alone due to short staffing. There is sole dependency on me for that project and company has ambitious golas with that project this year. Recently got SPOT award from skip manager as well.

Only talked to manager last week , although we had made a promotion action plan few months back for my promotion this cycle and I meticulously followed every points in that plan , manager doesn't seem to be fighting much for my promotion, although he always says in my face that I am his star performer.


I am really upset with this. What should I do ?? 

Talk to skip manager? Consider switching company ?

I am a DevOps Engineer in a series C funded startup.
My current compensation is 40LPA, which included 38LPA fixed, and 2LPA performance bonus.
I want to understand what my realistic expectations should be if I look out for another job.
I am open to all types of companies, be it a MNC or a well established startup.
I can be wrong by a huge margin, but I was expecting somewhere around 75LPA CTC with 70LPA fixed, given the fact that my promotion is due this upcoming December and I am expecting atleast 20% hike on my current CTC and in hand compensation.
What are your thoughts on this.
And if possible, can you guys also tell me what I should be prepared for if I get an interview opportunity for a senior level DevOps Engineer.

I need advice on how much I should ask for yearly Increment. I am in a product based company as an MLOps Engineer and I am completing 1 year here. Total YoE 2 years. My current base is 18LPA.
