A lot of folks working at startups seem to be "passionate " about their job. Some of them possibly, truly are. Some foolishly reverse engineer this passion because they're paid really well and they've been doing a good job and it's good personal PR to say "passion".  A few reality checks.

1. Your cool Bangalore lifestyle is a result of investment risks/bets taken by VC's .

2. Your salary is as much about the market demand as it is about your " passion " and talent.

3. Startups will generally lower the bar for hiring processes to meet their demand for talent. Why need so much talent? Because the startup  needs to spend that 100M$ Series C that just made them a unicorn. That's how they convince the VC to give more money. "We are going to 2x revenue by 2xing our salesforce and buying 10M$ worth of Saas that will increase our productivity by 5x. " And boom ...100M$ transferred into you SVB bank account.

4. You are as replaceable as a garbage bag on your dustbin. The HR is probably flirting with 10 other like you over linkedin.


5. The "values" this startup apparently espouses are mostly nothing but a honey trap and positioning to lure talent.

It's great to have a nice tech job that pays well and allows you to gloat on twitter like a techbro but don't let it fool you into getting an inflated sense of entitlement. You're probably living on borrowed time....and money. :)

I've been watching a few documentaries on his military tactics. His innovative tactics and organisational reforms revolutionised warfare, setting the standard for modern military operations. Personally, the battle at Austerlitz remains to be the best showcasing Napoleon's tactical brilliance and audacious maneuvering. With the enemy mistakenly believing his right flank was weak, Napoleon executed a deception, withdrawing his troops to lure the Allies onto the fragile ice. Napoleon's rise from humble beginnings to becoming Emperor and his eventual downfall at the Battle of Waterloo is a legendary story of ambition and power.

Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s former chief scientist, is launching Safe Superintelligence Inc., an AI startup “prioritizing safety over commercial pressures”.

What’s SSI? Safe Superintelligence Inc. (SSI) aims to create a safe and powerful AI system, approaching safety and capabilities in tandem while avoiding distraction by management overhead or product cycles.

Team? SSI is co-founded by Daniel Gross, a former AI lead at Apple, and Daniel Levy, who previously worked at OpenAI. Unlike OpenAI, SSI will not pursue partnerships with companies like Apple and Microsoft.

What are they upto? Well, SSI’s first product will be safe superintelligence, and the company “will not do anything else” until then 🤐

Still no idea what this means but great team doing something, will be super exciting to see this pan out!

Welcome to Business Roles's Private Community

Hey All, I am writing this to express how I am feeling since last 1 year now. This post will be a bit lengthy but I would be grateful if anyone could help me even a bit. 
I moved into a new company 1year back and due to bad work environment I left. I took a months break and joined a new company now. I have a total 5 years of work experience, my salary is extremely good. ( I don’t worry about this at all for now)

My problem is I don’t know what to do in my life. I guess I have quarter life crisis. 

Earlier I wanted to do music and act , I took professional classes and left because I felt bored idk why. I felt like I need someone to guide me and handhold me since I know no one in this industry. 
Talking about my job I have always moved into roles I loved every bit of work and I m very sincere and hardworking. 
I stopped working out , I stopped cycling, I stopped painting.
I stopped liking everything literally. Idk how to get back at things. I feel I am gonna die anyway why I need to do this , or that or etc etc. I even took counselling but it did not seem yo help me. 

Idk what to do. Please share your experiences too and what I need to do.

Think about the years of your life in India after 2000, we have seen remarkable progress here, from insane technological progression to a thriving cultural revolution.

Yet there is so much to achieve, new boundaries to push and drive at the cutting edge. We need to improve the living conditions of billions of Indians and become the bearers of true value enrichment.

We often speak about what this country can do for ourselves and that’s a fair ask. But perhaps it is not about what this country can do for you but what you can do for this country.

In 1967, my grandfather would have been toiling under the relentless sun or facing even the freezing chills of the Himalayas to grow crops. Today, I can grab a quick Uber to the airport, have an overpriced meal and fly to wherever I want.

In the grand scheme of things, our time has just begun. We’ve always been the underdogs, the odds stacked against us and yet we persevere. 

Chandrayaan-3 is on its trajectory to the moon and perhaps as a show of unifying force it is a reminder that this country is on its way to something we haven’t witnessed before.

Perhaps, to sit down and tune out the negativity is best, just focus on being a better version of yourself and inspire others to do the same.

We are the kids who no one expected much from, yet we worked on ourselves and became so good that we cannot be missed. 

Just keep moving forward.
