I don't understand MBA interviews
I am in my second year of MBA at one of the IIM LKI. Due to the bad economy my campus placements have taken a hit similar to ISB and IIM B. The worst part is I am not understanding where I am going wrong. As per my understanding I gave an exceptional interview to one of top Indian IT services but I still wasn't hired in spite of having an IT background with 3 years work ex in IT services Tech interviews were easy. You either know the answer or you don't I asked one of my seniors. He said they mostly look for culture fit!!!
some bg: I have hired over 30+ candidates from tier 1 college for CTC upto 2Cr+

Sometimes, we just don't hire over energetic or over confident candidates. I had alot of candidates following me up asking why they weren't selected..
reason:
1) one might think they given the best, it might not be the case-- try having mock interviews with senior folks
2) there was simply better candidates than you
3) a company might need an over-smart person, mostly because they might demand more salary later on, or might not be loyal etc...
As per my experience, I have seen an AVG candidate more ROi to company (long term) than some super smart candidates

Thank you for the answer. The reason I said I gave an exceptional interview was because I was able to answer all the questions flawlessly. I was not able to figure out what went wrong. When I asked a question at end of the interview she even she very good question
don't be mesmerized by words, most HRs tend to be kind or reason 2, she later interviewed better candidate

Is it the CTC or the base ? And it's better to know the progression like 2-3 years
