If you ask me, the purpose of life has to be more than climbing a self-constructed ladder. 

Like, it has to be more than a 3BHK in a metro, with two kids, a car and a prestigious job at a faceless corporation, 2 weeks of vacation and a movie on the weekend.

Isn’t this weird that, we all continue to fool ourselves? 

When you know nothing matters the universe is yours, and I've never met a universe that was into it. The universe is an animal, it grazes on the ordinary. It creates infinite idiots just to eat them. 

You know? Smart people get a chance to climb on top and take reality for a ride but it'll never stop trying to throw you. And eventually it will, there's no other way off

[Thread] What is according to you makes life worth living?

Remember when you were a kid and had a school trip the next day?    
    
 You sleep all excited, over preparing your bag, snacks, your pocket money and sleep fantasizing the day forward.   
    
 You wake up on the morning. You are excited as hell. Although it's no different than any other day but everything feels colorful. You can't wait to hop into your school bus and meet your friends who are just as excited as you.   
    
 I think what makes life is worth living are these experiences. When you sleep, you have something to look forward to. Someone to do, something to achieve, something you truly enjoy or be passionate about.   
    
 If you are just going through days fixated on the coming weekend or planned holiday. That is when things get a little messy.   
    
 I'm in that zone right now. I try to seek the satisfaction and happiness inside of me. So I don't depend on materialistic or emotional to feel lively. It must come from within and its damn hard to cultivate.   
    
 When I'll have that I'll be off from this corporate for good. .

Ive lost interest in everything in life. No hobbies, no friends, no office. Only work or babysitting. I keep on searching for things on amazon that would make me happy! I find nothing! I earn good but I don’t understand how to spend it( filled my kids toy room but now its too much toys for me to manage) Anxiety , panic attacks and stress! I really keep worrying what would happen if i get fired . Ironically I worry where to spend when I get salary. I feel I have zero wants except basic needs. Maybe I just want a peaceful life without stress. I am so confused.This was what I always wanted, fat cheque ,fancy title and a lovely kid.But I am unhappy! Drowning in responsibilities, in sesrch of happiness, in search of me!

For me: I’m 27, my life’s purpose (or so I think) is to build something that helps a whole lot of people have a better life. And it is to make the people around me - family, friends, strangers happier (the scale of which depends on how successfully I pull this off).

I have been a little caught up with numerous things in my life lately and have finally found some free time to open up myself to new experiences. 

I had a wishlist of shows and movies that I wanted to watch but as soon as I start watching them, I get bored and feel like turning it off. 

No, its not the content
No, its not the genre
No, its not the actors
No, its not the taste either

This is pretty ironic as considering the fact that I have spent a fair share of my youth chasing academics and career, my heart had always craved for life experiences. I had to let go of the woman I loved simply because I was too focussed on my JEE. I wont be able to forgive myself for that EVER. It almost felt like I had lost a limb, without which , I would be rendered disfunctional. Thats a separate story tho.

Nothing excites me (yep nothing)
Nothing amuses me 
Nothing feels lively

I have no clue where my life is headed

I understand that as we age, our triggers of happiness change. I have put concious efforts into knowing what those new triggers are. But I cant find any plausible sources of happiness.

I am performing pretty well with my career.
Even got a double digit hike.
But didnt feel that kick of joy.

Have I approached a dead end?

Lately I have came across a thought that anyone and everyone in this world is unhappy whether they are those who have achieved everything and those who have not. 

Previously I was very competitive about each and everything in my life now slowly losing the zeal and have started questioning why and what I'm running behind and then if I get something that I desperately wanted will I be happy and the answer i got from within is a big no. 

So, basically it is a false thing in itself which we call life in which we are revolving around never ending loops wanting to achieve one thing or the other only till we achieve it.

Please share your views.

I have been in this industry for 4 years now and there is not a single day that i hated this place any less. Today 9th August 2023 i am all alone in my room thinking to myself about what’s the point of this? 

I have no life i am all alone and tbh i have no real friends. A few of them that i do have are so far away from me busy in their life. No love life no social life. At 27 i feel wasted, done, finished let me clarify not in a suicidal way. I just feel exhausted my body is breaking down by the day i feel. I am just broken at this point and feel like quitting this profession altogether. I just don’t feel happy. The more i work the more irritated and frustrated i get.
To top all that i have no one to share my emotions with here. Call it whatever you may wanna call a cry for help, a rant or nonsense. I am at that point where every morning feels like punishment. Every night that i go to bed i try to stay positive but i am not able to. I just hate everything. 
I am not a lazy man i work for 10-12 hours everyday and i think now that has finally got to me as i feel finished.
I don’t know if anyone will read it or not i just wanted to reach out to people or anyone who feels like me. Broken tired and just done with everything.

I just want to vent out! Many businesses are earning double than me and paying less than 50% of tax and yet here I am as a professional bound to pay tax. And that’s not enough, I still can get audited!

Paying 29L as tax this year!!

I paid 43L last year. 😤😖 
 It feels like I own every inch of new BLR airport. 😅

Been in Bangalore for 6+ years and love everything the city has given me. 
This city ( more like people here) taught me what software engineering and product sense is, how to entrepreneurs function, whats a 100X coder like. 
Made many memories, weekend trips to nearby places were so nice. Dated, moved in and then married my girlfriend, adopted a dog. So Bangalore has given me a lot. 
But in hindsight it takes a way a lot also - 
1. Everybody is in constant work mode, even in parties its just about who is doing what
2. Everybody is in loot mode here - i have seen locals pay less for veggies/fruits in front of me, then the veggies apparently have lead in them
3. Rents/builders/brokers/roads - we all know whats up with them 

Though it was nice initially, now i feel like even after earning so much ( ctc > 1cr) if i just spend it all here ( monthly expenses ~2lacs same is with all my married friends), what is the point even.

Hence making a move to slow life now, where you get a house with garden for 25k and fresh veggies and you can actually develop some relationship with community. 

This urge to always outperform in career is not really needed, we all eventually work towards savings and hence if i earn less but spend even lesser, its more or less the same thing for me.

But i dont want to live in a matchbox, travel 1 hour to meet a friend, eat a roti for 150bucks and be in constant anxiety about climbing the ladder. 

All i want is to focus on health, and sit in a garden in some sunshine with my wife and my dog and enjoy a cup of tea. 

So yes, I AM DONE. Moving to a tier 2 ( more like tier 2.5 town )

 Also, costs can be low in Bangalore, spending 2L/mo in married life isn't a feature of the city, it's the feature of your circle.

Not a troll post promise. I am 16 years old, about to enter my dream college MIT (US wala). I'm already making over 8 crore per month pre tax, and deciding on going to college. I'm bored of life already. I feel I'm surrounded by dimwits and thoroughly mediocre plebians which has made me an introvert. I don't relate to anyone my age due to the obvious income gap.

Feeling unfulfilled. Is it all that's there to life? Help me. I don't think what I'm making is enough, but I have to suffer the bane of existence. I have to make do with only silk pillows instead of pure gold. What's next? 100 cr? Will that ever be enough?

Woe is me

I dont care about money above a certain amount, i dont care about power. I just want my newfound family and my stability. To live a happy life surrounded by my loved ones. I feel as if its not a bad dream to have.

Sick of this scarcity, struggle for every single fucking thing from getting a entry in local train, then slogging at work like donkey and then realising some MBA asshole will dictate your careers, then you think of becoming that asshole by getting masters but again fucking competition there, then wondering why the fuck am I paying taxes on your commute back to home in packed local train like a cockroaches, then struggle to get quality food, quality water and quality air, then again struggle to go to sleep and the Final struggle to wake up 
  
 But being the only child of my family and being their retirement fund is binding me here.  
  
 Sure other developed countries also have a competition but not to the extent of India.

Why is life boring? Eat sleep work repeat. Then die someday. How to live life wonderfully?

I’m a very private person and I was a bit confused whether I should write here or not, but anyway.

So, day before yesterday I was sitting on my chair after dinner and was thinking about my life and what the hell am I doing.

I realised that,
Saala bachpan se aaj tak race me hi bhaag raha hun. Pehle school me 1st, 2nd, 3rd aane ki race me. Then acche college milne ki race me. Then uske baad acchi job milne ki race me. Then uske baad agar ladki chahiye toh uske liye bhi ek race hai (Don’t have a gf, plz don’t take me wrong, it was a realisation)

My current daily routine is like this:
Wakeup everyday, write code, go gym, dinner, and then sleep and repeat this cycle everyday.

School ke dost peeche chhoot gaye, college ke dost apni life me busy ho gaye, colleagues se main zyada baat nhi karta and main akela padh gaya.

Feels like life is not intriguing anymore, it has no spark left. Its so painful to live everyday.

I feel like I don’t want to live any more, I want to die but I can’t cuz of 2 reasons.
1. I’m the only son of my parents.
2. If I die like this, then I won’t be able to come out from the birth cycle.

I don't know if this post would make sense, but does anyone ever wish they were less? Less competent, less "bright", less "smart"? I'm not being braggy but I am pretty smart (not book smart but smart smart) and while objectively I am doing pretty good, I just constantly feel like I'm not living up to my fullest potential!

Should I be on the lookout for a better job (the present one is fine) or preparing to study more or, I don't know, to scale and scale? It feels like everyone has such high expectations of me and I hate making mistakes, even if it is a typo in a document

The anxiety that I'll never live up to my potential becomes so crippling, it becomes counter productive and like Dr. Strange, I forseen like a 100 different possible outcomes of every decision because I can't seem to turn my brain off! Ignorance is bliss and I so wish I could be ignorant
