IPad: ✅ or ❌
Hey Viners, I'm looking for some financial advice. While I'm not someone who spends impulsively, but an urge to get an iPad and begin taking notes on it is strong. My financial situation: I get 90K per month, out of which 50K goes to my family and around 25K is for EMIs and miscellaneous expenses. Do you think it's a good idea to buy an iPad for someone who's grinding Leetcode problems? If yes, which model is best for my needs? I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

I got a ipad along with apple pencil 6 years ago. I never used it. I couldn’t use it in office due to data protection. The pencil is lying somewhere and the ipad exists just for watching some movies

For me nothing beats pen scraping on real paper. Apple pencil doesn’t give that feel.

With your financial situation would suggest you to not spend on the iPad because if any emergency etc strucks you will be in a tough place IMO.
You can go with notebook and pen or can use any note making software in your personal laptop.
And once you have worked on leetcode and got better hike (in the same company or by switching); then you can definitely get yourself an iPad.

I bought an iPad and it served its purpose sometimes.
Now cannot use it as the new company has a lot of data protection policies.
Now being used mostly for consuming media.
I hve a Logitech keyboard case and Apple Pencil and whenever I try to use it as a daily driver for study stuff it is good.
But would only recommend you to buy if you are serious about note taking.
I am giving it to my sister who can use it for her college.

Not the best choice if you believe that you’ll be using it for note taking from day 1. My suggestion would be to get used to the idea of note taking and functionality using note taking well in your job for atleast 2 months. Once you’re accustomed to that idea and find it productive to your job, then think of an iPad.
Including myself, I know 4 folks who have excessive note taking for work and also own an iPad, rarely do they use their iPad for it. Multiple reasons for it: data protection issues, social validation, value addition to your job.
Most iPads end up being used for watching shows/movies while having meals.
