Hi,

I am currently working as an software developer (5+ years experience)with around 40LPA CTC. 

Most of the people in my circle have gone there 2-3 years back.

Now I am having a fear of missing out, I applied for a few universities and I have got an admit in MS in CS. 

Is it worth it to migrate to another country and start again at this point of my career? What is your opinion on work in USA compared to India?

Need some experienced folks with honest answers please.

Going up the ladder, the competition for promotions must get harder and harder with lesser people on the top. At this stage do you find that having an additional degree helps in terms of hirability? Does MS add any value in in long term career growth/job security?

I don't want to move from India , so I was trying to evaluate if there is meaning to an MS apart from transfer to US and dollar salary...

Value of MS in long term?

I'm currently working as a software engineer in India, with TC 45LPA and 2 years of experience. I'm thinking about applying for a Master's in CS in the USA for fall 2024. But I'm not sure if I want to settle there or not currently. Should I make the move considering things are going well in India? Getting a job directly in the US seems close to impossible. Any advice? Confused if i should go for MS CS from USA or stay in India, how would you decide?

I have almost 5 years of experience as a software engineer in India.

Its been a long time now, that i am confused if i should go to US for MS considering i will have to take up a loan of 50 lakhs.

Also the layoffs are here, probably scenario will be good once the MS is over (May ‘24) , and i might be able to repay the loan.

It seems like a huge step and a risky one.

My motivation for US are
1. Foreign Exposure and Experience
2. Bank Balance for better retirement in India
As IT is uncertain and we never know what might happen in future.

What are your thoughts on this, what factors should i consider?

Hey everyone I’m a fresher with around 6 months of experience as a java developer in a start up! I was thinking about doing MS in USA, but not sure what course, How & When,  But I’m sure it’ll help me and my poor family to level up, and also I dont have any godfather or dearly relative to help with the required knowledge, thought this’ll be the better platform to ask my questions! How is it guys? Will it worth to spend 50L+ to study in US n get a job there? Whats the success rate? Will I be able to do it? Does it require more talent than it takes to do it in India? Stdy MS in US or Continue in India?

Hi all, we all know how messed up the market is right now. I currently have a work experience of 1.6 years,and I am thinking if I should go for a masters in CS abroad or not. Considering the market scenario abroad I am a bit afraid to take the big leap, but right now I can see the scenario is not much better in India as well, facing difficulty in switching also. Hi, I am currently 22, graduated recently from a tier 2 institute and currently working at a US based startup earning 18lpa ( almost all base ) + rsu's, lately my family have been nagging me to do a postgrad, I am confused weather I should do an MBA, MS or not do a postgrad at all considering the years I will miss in workex. 

What should be my best course of action considering ROI in the next 10-15 years ??

Currently I am facing a dilemma whether to pursue msc in cybersecurity from UK or not , a lot of inputs are further confusing me , currently have 2 years of experience and have done BCA. Hi Grapevine, Just curious to know your thoughts of going to the US/EU as an SDE during the early age of your career. 
Maybe not now but within 1 year. Pure motivation is money and will definitely come back to India in a couple of years .

I am currently working (2 yoe) at a decent service based startup (CTC 7L) but I feel like I could do much better. This job feels easy (nothing new to learn).

I graduated in electrical from a tire II college, since I fell in ♥️ coding (thanks to robotics club and YouTube) i choose this career, but now looking at all the other profiles I feel i am not getting access to those cheese jobs, kind of those that have high scope to learn and earn. 

So I feel like getting into a top college and getting a masters in CS might help me.

I'm working as a software Engineer at a startup with almost 2 YOE. Looking at most of my friends going to usa for masters right after college i felt like I'm making a mistake by not doing the same after listening software engineers earning 100K us dollars there. I thought I'll give myself two years get some work experience and then think about it but honestly I'm still confused if i should switch(which is not proving to be so simple in the current job market) or should I go for masters (again confused here in choosing between usa or Germany or Australia). Will taking almost 40 Lakhs of loan money and doing it be worth it ? Seriously damn confused about what next step to take. When I spoke with the CTO here, he advised it's not worth and you can be earning almost similar money here soon. I'd say FOMO is also a big thing here. As i tell myself let's take the risk, 2 years of study will be done soon and then work for 3-4 years , make big money , repay the loan and get back to India. I'd be having the international exposure, experiencing some above average lifestyle than India , so confused man 

Any grapeviners who might have seen people around them taking this step please suggest me what to do, any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏

Guys. Please suggest. I have been working in wipro since the last 4 years without much career growth. I'm planning to do an ms in cs next year , i.e fall 2025 . I wanna pursue an ms  primarly bcoz of current stagnant career so that I can eventually switch to a good product based company post my masters in usa. And ,  also bcoz I can bear the costs financially. But I'm really scared to start all over again . I'll be 27 by the time I start my masters. Is it a good decision to start masters at 27? Will I be able to secure a core entry level SDE job in product based companies at the age of 29?

I have 2 years of Backend experience and I feel like masters won’t add much to my knowledge or experience and want an honest reply to all the persons who did masters in US. 
I come from a Tier 1 college but have a decent CGPA and no research experience whatsoever so won’t get hotshot colleges but the ones which I would get would it add anything to my skillset and I don’t wanna do it just for the sake of getting masters and working in the US.
