I would say this is a very one sided view. Indian student community helps a lot in settling down in a new land. It comes as a very strong support during low times. You find & enjoy new festivals from different corners of the country/world. It might sound cliche, but having desis (incl ppl from sub-continent) works very well. Have seen many of my folks those who went to European smaller univs shared some “home-sick” stories from the colder parts of the world. #BeenThrDoneThat
