 After getting a degree after 4 years, working hard 6 more years on top of it, I am making about 35 lpa, and they are making it in a month. I feel you.

Not sure how true that is but if so, I do feel inferior though I am at a high paying job. Their constant show off makes it worse - one guy claimed in front of Bikchandani that he made 35L/month

I followed a lot of these so called CP influencers on LinkedIn or X. and see most of these people stay in their job for long time. 1 person who just passed out of college joined Zomato (referral only), made so many post about work etc, but left in 6 months (acc to his LinkedIn ). seen other cases as well. 
acc to CP/DSA is most important for SDE, then why cant they work, is it because of money from their courses or they cant sustain in their job.

Hi folks,

I have freelanced on upwork earlier and maximum reached $20/hour in development gigs but got burned out by constant pressure of rebidding once the current project gets over. The profile is still 5 star rated but getting full time job through these freelancing platform require lots of marketing and bidding and it’s difficult with day job. However recently I have seem trend where there are some genuine folks such as harkirat who are upping the game by earning around 5 crore annually through posh remote jobs. Has anyone of you tried pursuing that route by reaching out to founders of early stage startups on twitter/linked in or used freelancing portals such as upwork to get full time gigs which pays more than $100k remotely. If yes please share some guidance.

I have been seeing Instagram reels about easy ways to make money /entrepreneurship. It makes me feel FOMO despite being in a MNC as a software developer. There are so many things being told in reels. Also seeing content creators being paid so much 
Any thoughts on this ??

I did everything by the book, I work with an elite firm, studied in an elite institution. I tried to work hard, although I know it may not be the hardest but I am sure it was not the least. 

I did my MBA from a tier 1 uni and now work in a tier 1 firm, but somehow it never translates into money. 

My current pay is 20LPA after 6 years work ex and a tier 1 MBA. I see many young kids with packages 50LPA plus, and no not only SDEs. school mates who used to party when I was a nerd, and are now influencers earning 1 CR a month. On average I see everyone earning more than me at my age, whether corporate, father’s business or social media.

I have started to believe that money comes to the lucky, you may work hard or not, but it does not correlate to wealth. 

I am looking for viewpoints from people who do not think so. Would like to know a new perspective.


P.S. - those who say I am not trying to switch correctly, I have tried but somehow they only have low paying roles for me

I am seeing lots of 22 years old who have opened their digital marketing agency and earning really good money by working with freelance clients who pay in dollars. 

I am starting up and I want a source of income. Don't really want to go to corporate job. 

Haven't had much success with freelancing. Cold mailing hardly works and gig websites like Upwork etc have lots of competition at some really cheap rate. 

What are the best way to getting freelance work with international clients? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Indian SDEs on LinkedIn & Twitter are some of the worst engineers you will ever find across the real world. Their typical value lies around:

- Cracking a FAANG/MAANG or Product company.
- Make an announcement on LinkedIn & Twitter and accumulating followers.
- Starting YouTube channel, Topmate links, affiliate marketing channels, and more.
- Rant DSA, System Design, Interview resources all day long. 
- Post daily of their office, their colleagues, candid shots, and barely getting any work done.

While this is expected out of early career professionals, it pains to see senior SDEs doing the same shit over and over again. Things don't end here — Everyone talks about creating a revolution. And the revolution is teaching DSA. 

If you are an experienced SDE and still ranting DSA, it just means that you have barely learnt anything that is of worth any value. You are atmost a "Ticket Engineer". You get assigned a Jira ticket, you bust your ass solving it, and that's it. That's your entire value. 

Its high time that these "Bhaiya", "Didis", "Bhabhis" stop ranting DSA and System Design over and over, and build something of real value. You would barely see any credible open-source projects coming out of India (but hey, we have some many contributors!), barely any Indie dev project, or anything that captures the attention of the world. 

Literally every popular SDE you might follow or see over your social media is the same. Their entire community game is a farce and designed to capture gullible college students and shill thousands of rupees out of them. You might be featured on Times Square ($40 ka showoff), but no one would remember you for anything that you built.

I am jealous of Pilots as they get to travel a lot while being paid. ( Having Airhostess/es in their close circles is also one of the reasons )
