What else did these 'students' expect? Founder of this Union is the son of owner of lovely professional university, a wholesale education degree seller, and a master in obfuscating placement facts and running hyper misleading ads. A few days ago Lovely guys were promoting that one of their graduates secured 2cr package and they were going ballistic with promotions but later it was revealed that that 2cr guy had left college more than 6 years ago. Don't expect anything less from this Union either.

I am probably earning 2x of what an average T-1 MBA grad makes in India. I'm just not happy in my role and this SDE grind caught me lackin'.

Can you help me determine whether it is still a good bet to get an MBA? Because these normie MBA folks are literally the dumbest people I have seen and I think I can do a better job than them.

Earning 2x of a Tier-1 MBA grad already. Should I still do an MBA?

I joined an MBA program while I was making close to the average salary of post MBA grads. 
  
 Few things to remember: 
  
 1. Opportunity cost of a 2 year MBA is humongous. The PGP at IIMs will cost you a crore+. Imagine trying to get an ROI on it. 
  
 2. PGP at IIMs are filled with freshers and low work experience folks which naturally means there are very few senior roles on offer. So you may not find the right level after MBA. 
  
 3. It's best to restrict yourself to 1 year programs like ISB's PGP and IIM's PGPX. 
  
 4. Be really sure of what you want from the MBA. You can easily switch to SDM or product roles without MBA. Recommend giving that a shot if you are just tired of SDE

I heard from someone in the industry that Stoa laid off most of the people and only 7 of them are still there, including 4 of their co founders. The Main reason was that they were not able to provide placements to the members and their experience had turn to shit . What is happening with ed tech , also the sauce is that now they are pivoting into self paced courses following the coursera model. Alternative MBA nahi chal payega India .

MBA (any course for that matter) is a “means-to-an-end” to a good job. If no job no demand of that course . Maybe they weren’t able to screen good candidates. As good candidates go to top B schools. The avg guys didn’t get job as expected and then revolted .  
 Many edtechs tried this model of taking avg students and promising jobs but jobs are hard to come by even for good candidates. Hence their models fails.     
 If education in India has to be improved it has to start at the school education.

Can someone advise on Master Union?

Thinking of taking up the Product Marketing course at GrowthSchool.

I read some positive and negative reviews and it seems that their marketing comms are immature and pushy.

So, on the fence about joining their Product Marketing course. The 7-week curriculum seems good, but is it worth INR 25k?

Could be an opportunity to network and get my foot in the door (into product marketing).

Or am I better off investing a much bigger amount in Product Marketing Alliance or Product School? PMA seems to be the most reputed one globally.

Talked to the son of my Dad's friend recently. Brilliant kid has a good GPA from IIIT-H + 2 research internships and 1 summer internship at good companies. He still can't find a "good" company to get into. 
(Side Note: "good" implies a high paying job relative to last couple of years)

Apparently, most of his friends in other colleges are in the same boat. Massive pay correction has happened.

The undergoing rationale is that companies hired Class of 2022 with no restraint because the demand was really strong during their placement season in 2021. This appears to be directly correlated with quantitative easing in the US and a low interest rate environment that was conducive to fundraising for several Series A+ startups.

By the time Class of 2022 entered the market, everything changed and they felt some short term change. However, Class of 2023 is having a much tougher time. They are shoved into the job market in a time where demand is low and they are competing with kids who graduated last year. 

Ongoing consensus appears to be that a huge chunk of their batchmates are going to get their Masters abroad. Their hope is that by the time they graduate out of grad school, the economy will pick up and demand will be strong while they're poised to take advantage of that with bump up credentials.

Unfortunately, this also implies that many of them will end up in the CPT-OPT-H1B-Green Card hell.

This is really a tough spot to be in.

Me: APM with almost 2 years of experience looking to do an MBA to fast track my career.

Post-MBA roles:
- Product Management
- Strategy Roles
- Program/Project Management
- General Management
- Other similar roles

Long term goal: To stay in India; fine with working 2-3 years abroad.

Query 1: Considering an average profile with 9/8/8 in high school/intermediate/college, tier-1 undergrad and 2 years work-ex at a start-up. Do I have a chance to bag an MBA admit from the following with little scholarship:

- LBS
- Insead
- HEC Paris
- Oxford
- Cambridge
- SDA Bocconi
- NUS Singapore
- IESE
- ISB

I'm targeting 1 year programs only for cost purposes, hence the US is out of the picture. Feel free to suggest good 1 yr US programs

Query 2: How much GMAT is required for my profile to get into these schools?

Query 3: Are 2 year IIM Programs more advisable for me and should I leave abroad colleges altogether. At the maximum, I can't wait more than 3 years of work-ex at the time of applying due to personal reasons.

My opinion -  
  
 Q1 - If your long term goal is to be in India, prefer institutions within india. Reason - You won’t be able to build network, an imp component of any MBA program. I know someone who went Dublin and struggling even to get references back home. Adding A/B/C will help  
  
 Q2 - Target 720, you will land at a better place. GMAT is just a barrier, not the deciding criteria. 
  
 Q3- 2 years would be good considering your constraints and long term goals. If you can extend 1 more year, you’ll be eligible for IIMs 1 yr MBAs.  
  
 Overall - It’s my strong opinion that if you are targeting foreign MBAs, value derivation will happen only if you plan to stay, work abroad for few years. Financial burdens will be less plus you will something worthwhile to show. See the privilege of “foreign-returned” is slowly reducing in india as global roles are getting created here as well.

Is it beneficial to do Online MBA or PGPWP from IIM’s, considering that the fees is ~20LPA and the classes are conducted online or on weekends. I am currently working in a big 4 with 5years of experience in tech consulting and earning ~ 30LPA, leaving current job will be a difficult decision, therefore I have been considering such courses. My current employer might not be able to give me any promotion on this basis but will it help in long run and help in switching to MBB’s ? 
Also, does the degree of these courses specify online or anything which sets it apart from regular course degree?

I have two options in hand Plaksha University and Masters Union. At Plaksha i have opted for btech in data science , business and economics . For me the fees at Plaksha is 30 L net whereas at masters Union it will be around 37 L . Basically i am building business rn and would be continuing the same in the university .
