Is a career break really that bad in this country?

Has anyone here with Tech work experience (India) (not from MAANG or any reputed companies, or tier 1 colleges ) taken a career break for personal reasons ? Not talking essential leaves maternity break or something like that, but more like for well being/upskilling/travel etc, whatever it maybe. Could you share your experience ? What was your experience like getting back to work/interview experience ? I am considering taking one myself. I know this is normalised on Europe, but I feel in India, many people (esp. some recruiters) find this weird and most people are even scared about taking a break. Thoughts ?

Is it okay to take career break of 3 months for mental health. I got laid off but got job within 1 month but feeling anxiety and mental disturbance and need some time to cope up. Something happened inbetween due to loneliness and hits a bad way so I need some time to prepare mental health back. Is it okay to take break?

I have worked hard to have a stellar profile (tier 2 Engineering graduate and tier 1 MBA graduate). I have 2 years of pre-MBA experience and will be completing 1 year post-MBA in a few months, at which point i plan on putting in my papers. Being in this rat race has taken it's toll. I am depressed and dread logging into work everyday. It's come to a point where every small task feels like a burden. I have decent amount of savings and I can support myself during the time off. My parents and friends don't seem very excited by this decision of mine, but they are not in my shoes and do not understand what I am feeling. Would love to hear other people's stories/opinions on this.

How is the 6-8 months career break seen by recruiters? I am exhausted and burnt out with currently juggling between work and health. I was hoping to take 6-8 months break and then resume work by applying for jobs. So was wondering how is the job market in India now? And will it be a wise decision to quit?

I have been working for the past 8 years and have had a good career so far with a degree from a great college. However i have been feeling very burnt out recently and I'm losing the motivation to do things on my own. I am considering taking a break for a few months (3-6). I have good savings and minimal debt. My spouse has a stable job so i may be able to afford it. I want to use this time to just do nothing for a while, take a few courses and pursue some hobbies. Maybe travel a little bit. I want to also use this time to figure out how to break the loop of getting to a burnout stage. Has anyone ever done something like this? What has your experience been like?

Brief context: I resigned from my current role(Project Manager) due to personal reasons. I have been serving notice period for the past month. My LWD as communicated by Manager and HR is mid June. However my manager has asked me to complete my project KT by April end. Since my dependency in other projects is negligible, i believe i will be let go after April. Since I joined this company in mid May 2023, i will be 15-20 days short of completing 1 year at this company. I have some personal issues to focus on for next few months, so I am not planning to work for the next 6 months. How much will the experience and career break affect my chances to get interviews? Background: B.Tech + MBA (Tier-1) Workex: 3YOE (2YOE pre-MBA, 1YOE post MBA) Targeted Roles: Product management

For some context: I have about 4.5 YoE & 3 years directly in product along with Master’s level qualification. Primarily have worked with early stage start ups and have experienced similar challenges in each so avoiding this segment and red flag companies (taking Glassdoor, ambition box reviews as the basis here) But a few people/seniors are suggesting to consider any opportunity with any kind of company as the market is bad. So wanted some perspective on the risk of career gap on resume vs being stuck in a similar company and going through the same job search process maybe 6 months or a year down the line? What would be a better trade off? P.S: Currently I am able to focus on overall up skilling and whatever is needed to clear job interviews and have decent financial security & runway. Any advice/perspectives are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello good folks of grapevine, I am very confused with my situation right now. I am currently working at a consumer tech unicorn in a strategy role but really burnt out with the working environment. I have no clarity on my roles and responsibilities which keeps changing every week. I am not learning much either. I am planning to quit without any offer in hand (notice period is 2 months, I have enough to survive 5-6 months). I am an IIT-IIM graduate (old ones). Total YOE ~ 4.5 years across strategy consulting, project management and strategy at current startup. Please suggest. Folks who have quit without any offer in hand, how did it work out for you?

Hello, its been on my mind for sometime. Im in a job which doesn’t seem to be going in any direction (gate walled, no clarity, team politics) and getting fed up over last few months. Want to quit & take a break, but considering the job scene here, it might be a sometime before I get another job. So should I leave or rot for few more months? 😭 Hows the job hunting scene right now? Any advise would be really appreciated.. 🙏
