After reading replies in grapevine for dystopian policies, HR policies, work culture, companies to avoid(looks like all companies should be avoided), related questions I'm kind of regretting as I took the decision to stay back in India and not pursue masters abroad to live with my parents.
Given how pathetic the work culture is in almost all the startups(I'll go with 99.99%), politics and poor work life balance and living in a country where I don't get any tax benefits even after paying 30+% direct income tax, is it really worth living in this country anymore ? I'm feeling very sad, looks like I missed the opportunity to go abroad as I'm 25 now. Only my love towards my parents is holding me back since they both are around the age of 60 and I don't want to be the son who will make crores of money abroad and not be with them in case of any emergency. I'm don't want to leave them alone. Looks like there is no hope working in India. 😔

As someone who’s been in both places
I personally would say go abroad. I know this might come from a point of privilege , no commitments , relatively young parents who run their own businesses so financially I don’t have to support them and we have people to help us with whatever we need.
However I would say go abroad because of the experience you get to new cultures and people as well as most often than not you do get a better work life culture than the ones we face here in India if we even have one. Laws are more worker friendly (white collar). You can always come back to India.
However it’s all got to do with you as an individual and your luck and determination. You might have some difficulties at the start but if you get through it you’d actually see why people run off abroad.
Nationalist pride is bullshit when there’s no benefit of you staying here. Build India , help your country is just a lot of propaganda that is fed to emotionally blackmail us , don’t fall for it. You get nothing for the taxes you pay. Stay in India only if you’re rich and powerful else move away to somewhere better. Your future generations will thank you.

Apart from that even my parents are well off financially but we don't have any sort of help in case of any emergency. They are all alone. That's the reason I need to stay.
But I do agree with you. People should go and live abroad. They all can avail tax benefits which is largely unlikely for tax payers here in India. Even the personal health insurance which we take has 18% GST. Govt hospitals and schools are not even below average.
My hands are tied. Can't imagine my parents living without me all alone.

As someone who has livef in both places - definitely choose India for the long run.
What is there in long run ?
Fewer background threads are running when living in India. Ex. Don’t have to worry about VISA, school shootings, finding a maid, random racism from foreigners, Internet charges, money transfer, old parents etc. Can spend time on things that really matter. Govt needs to improve by a few orders of magnitude for sure but with successful lateral entires like Nandan Nilekani, we should see more talented folks steering the direction of our country
Your parents' love is worth it. Didn't your parents work hard and raise you? Culture is what kept them grounded. A lot of the posts you see are from people who have been derooted from their culture, have nothing else to fallback on, and end up ranting here due to lack of other vent for stress. Your parents would have ranted between themselves. What kept them sane was their rootedness. Yes, Indians work hard. Chinese and Koreans work harder. Americans work relatively lesser and Europeans have stopped working. These have larger negative ramifications for the West, something you will see in the next 5-10 years. It's not all rosy everywhere else.
I get that you’ve not had a very good experience of working in India. I’ve been working in a seed/series A funded startup and an MNC. Sometimes I want to go back to the seed funded startup for good work and good colleagues. I don’t expect startups to have politics as they’ve to ship cool stuff or die. I do however get to see lot of politics in my current MNC, I keep shut and endure as I’d like to go back to a B2b startup once economic things settle down a bit.
I'm working at a series D company which is making a good revenue and work culture is really very good but even you know to earn higher salary you need to keep on switching. Option of companies then becomes negligible because of toxic work culture of Indian companies. What about my tax and tax benefits?
