Because governments work for groups with street veto which obviously normal genuine good citizens do not have here. Indian taxes are at par with European countries but facilities are sub Saharan level. Sigh.

Bro, you are earning. Shouldn't you just be grateful that you are not born in war torn Afghanistan or disease ridden Africa. I mean life could be so much worse. In fact, the only difference between you and the office boy is the household you were born in. If that office boy was born in your home, he probably would be as successful as you. 

You already won the lottery. Why not just do your part and pay the income tax so that the tax money can be used to provide a better life to those who are unprivileged.

I am not excusing the corruption in the system but just find the cribbing unbearable

Oh, I thought this must be some smart argument, the moment I read “difference between you & the office boy is the household…”.  
  
 No bro, it’s no so simple. People work hard to make a living. People crib about taxes because some of us are paying ‘first world rates with third world facilities’. Only single digit % of population is bearing the load of rest-of-population. Even corporate tax rates are < Salary tax rates.

I was doing a tax plan for the next FY. 

A significant chunk is going off my hard earned money 😔 for which I get 🔔 from govt. 

I hardly use any public facilities , or can simply  say they do not exist and are not up to mark 

Any Tom and harry comes and starts  freebies for his noble cause of votes which tax payers like me are not eligible to be benefitted  even if I want to take any . 

Why the heck I have been taxed so much . 

Even if you get variable pay this month which was already taxed with TDS and If I invest in MF lumpsum  and get some gains . The whole amount will again be taxed that too according to my tax bracket .

Although I am not considering indirect taxation which is another curse we all are facing . 

Is everyone pissed with this tax story or simply ignore and move on to pay more tax and grind more .

Seems like since last year the focus of government has shifted from actually making beneficial policies to enable innovation and growth of India to just collecting taxes blindly. 

They just want to harvest tax in as many ways possible and kill the middle class person.

First it was crypto. 

Then us salaried individuals started receiving notices. 

Then they levied 28% GST on online gaming. 

Now they are also checking proofs for HRA allowance and other stupid stuff which wasn't done before. 

I was wondering why there is a sudden increase in such incidents? Is the government hiding something? Are they running out of money?

Or are they just smoking weed just like us and making stupid rules?

This government’s primary intention is to collect more and more taxes in whatever mean’s possible. They don’t give a f**k about anything. And then will brag every month/quarter about record GST collection! This government is pathetic to say the least! No accountability and arrogance is at its peak. Every year we work for almost 3+ months ONLY FOR GOVERNMENT.
It really hits hard and an eye opener as we barely get anything in reverse.

This is known issue but as an developing nation, this needs to improved and worked upon

The Data for % of Tax Payers are Insane

While Indian government reaps and enjoys the taxation of high paid IT jobs, there are hardly any responsibility in taking care of laid off citizens. I’m pretty sure most high paid individuals are irritated with the 10s of lacs of tax paid every year and yet not getting basic benefits from the government. No wonder so many HNIs leave India every year and settle in nations where high earning is nurtured and not abused.

In my honest opinion, Indian government should do the following for laid off individuals based on their previous year tax collected.
1. Provide Rent + Basic necessities cost for at least 6 months or joining the next job, whichever is earlier.
2. Provide health insurance to laid off citizen and dependent individuals for at least 1 year or till the person joins next job, whichever is earlier.
3. Pause Home loan EMIs for at least 6 months or till the person joins next job, whichever is earlier.
