Joining Early Stage Funded Startup
Can someone please mention the pros and cons of joining an early stage funded startup in the current scenario?
Pros:
- Insane learning curve. You'll be expected to learn the tech stack and get coding features quickly
- Make production level things from scratch. If it's a good startup, you can get involved in architecture and hld meetings and learn a lot about how complex systems get built from scratch
- You'll be working on real development projects with immediate impact and be expected to turn them around quickly. Devs at bigger MNCs work on such projects less frequently. So you'll build your skills faster.
Cons:
- Chances of burnout
- Little to no structure. Depending on the company, you might not get a full PRD or proper documentation before you start implementing. You'll be expected to deal with ever changing requirements
- What if the startup runs out of money/ can't raise more?
Also, I asked the founder about the runway and all. He told me that they raised $3.5M and have a good runway of 2 years at least.
I will be joining as a PM intern and then will convert to a full-time APM. Btw I am the first product hire.
