Laid off within 15 days of joining the job :(

I got laid off within 5 months of joining the company as a Fresher it was my first job during PG I was under training for 1-1.5 months and got shifted to the actual work department due to requirements in that department. I was under probation for 3 months but the period extended for 1 month due to PG exams. I eventually worked with determination as it was my first job I even worked on weekends and sacrificed my health sleep for that job yes I accept i made some mistakes and was not able to adhere to the tight deadlines sometimes. My manager used to call me and used to tell me that he is not seeing any improvement in my performance also said or else he had to escalate this matter to the senior managers. I was giving my best working late nights even skipping my meals to finish the work on time also the deadlines got tighter and tighter. When the probation period got over i received a call from hr telling we have to part ways the time taken for completing a task is longer the performance was not up to the mark. she also told if you don't resign you'll be blacklisted and would face consequences. After listening to this I was heartbroken despite working with honesty and determination I was not confirmed. My peers who joined the organization with me got confirmed for that position. I am looking for another job and facing questions like why you left the previous job as a fresher I have no idea what to say. I am not sure about the next job i don't want to face this situation again it destroys mental peace, confidence and develops self doubt what should I do I am vulnerable......

I worked at a remote start up in digital marketing space and helped them generate huge revenue and creative programs. I always received praise from my team, PODs and Clients. Today in the name of company profits and without proper reason because of my manager's favourism and ass saving of her family n friends working in the company I am told to resign. I am feeling very broken as I was always getting recognized and I loved to create good brands and now I am disposed like I wasn't there only because of my toxic dalal manager. Can you all help me what should I do to get a good job at the earliest please sir and madam! I have responsibilities and really need a start.

Hi guys, I really need help, I recently got laid off as a Software Developer. I am a recent graduate from IIIT Gwalior. Am actively looking for an SDE Backend role. Have been applying everywhere with referrals, still no response. It's financially draining. Any leads would be appreciated.

I completed education from tier 1 colleges (MBA and Engineering both from coveted IIM and IIT). After MBA, I joined Wall Street bank and life was really good. Was enjoying the perks of a MNC although the work was also excruciating but was an overall good experience. Left it for a startup (fast growth kida in me led this decision). Worked in the startup across multiple roles, learned a lot of new things. Tried staying away from office politics and earned a good name in the circle. But growth (read pay) was not that enticing and was not growing hence decided to leave. Was naive enough to quote this reason to business head and HR as well. Obviously it didn't go well with anyone. Joined startup2, changed cities and joined it. The role was similar, although my manager was an epitome of a toxic manager. Was doing good but he always was able to find some or the other mistake in my work. If he would not find any mistake then he would suggest some tangential hypothesis and then reprimand me for not thinking about it. Was so toxic that I didn't take leave when my wife was hospitalized and giving birth to our child. Tried doing everything possible but couldn't save the job and got laid off in the 1st lay off wave. Was shattered. Confidence was at rock bottom. Tried searching for roles. Luckily I got into startup3 who had remote work at that time. Although I joined the marketing team (which was not at all related to my previous work) thus creating a mess of my profile. Worked hard but in a "restructuring" exercise got laid off again. Within a year 2 lay offs with random work and no concrete direction in work. Now searching for roles but not able to find anything suitable as I was in non-core roles and in this difficult time everyone is looking for cheap resources with 1-3 yoe and not looking for 7+ yoe with generalist profile. Contemplating starting from zero in Marketing or learning coding/Data science so that can start my career again with right basics.

I've been laidoff, searching for a job. Had stepped out for a walk and I saw my school teacher crossing the road from the other side. I, being a person who always talks to people, turned my face and sneaked away, not having the confidence to tell someone that I'm unemployed if asked. Feels bad. 🥲

I don't know why everyone is making a big deal out of layoffs. Even the ones who laid off are not that concerned than the ones who comment. Laid off employees literally get free money upwards of 10 lakhs in many cases of senior developers who are laid off from top tech startups. Companies pay severance equal to 3-6 months salary of laid off employees. Some even offer other benefits as well. I personally know a couple of Devs who got around ~9-10L in severance pay. So, yeah if there are layoffs happening in funded tech startups or leading tech companies, considering their pay range, laid off employees get handsome severance pay including employee benefits

Looking for genuine and non diplomatic answers since it will be anonymous. It is upto you to reveal the name of the company you resigned from. Lets discuss!!! I will go first - I quit my last organisation (a famous UPI company) in 2020 because, they still are in old technology. No cloud computing, no kubernates, no terraform. Their entire baremetal infra are in 2 DCs (Mumbai and Bangalore). Leadership ideas are outdated. I was very much bored and looking for a change.

I've had the fortune of having worked in 3 countries so far. India is by far the most exciting place to be in 2024. But there's something about our work ethic that just concerns me. In both white and blue collar. In most other countries, I've observed people strictly sticking to the 9 to 5, working diligently in those hours - not wasting too much time on chai sutta breaks, instagram browsing, gupshup etc. They work for 8 hours, then leave. And think about work directly the next day. In India, most of us spend more hours - but very obviously very few of those hours are productive. In fact, I lately feel that too many people around me are doing even 2-3 hours of work on a good day. We end up just staying around, passing time, and then go back home. When we could have achieved so much more. Work ethic has fallen. Work hours have gone up. We need to be more mindful of our actions, we need to work well at work, and then do well at home. I think it's a function of being over populated. There are 1.5-2 people doing what 1 person should be doing, hence this effect. Needs to be fixed, it's the sign of a major problem in the workforce. Thoughts?

I was working with Dun and Bradstreet here in Hyderabad. Called yesterday to my workplace, and was told that I was being let go due to some restructuring. In plain terms you are fired. Once again handled really poorly, no advance notice nothing. Was not even prepared for it. Layoffs are inevitable but the least companies can do is to handle it better. They just don't understand that this only gives em negative image or maybe they don't care.

I work at a small scale startup where I interact daily with the CTO whom I directly report. Recently, he has been giving tighter deadlines for critical projects at work and is not willing to discuss anything related to the scope or timeline of the projects. He just expects me to finish everything in x number of days without asking for even the slightest estimate of the duration. This has led to me missing due dates for projects which he later blames on me quoting poor performance during reviews. Has anyone encountered such problems before? How did you handle it?
