Lost career graph( long post)

I am deeply worried, to the extent of feeling depressed, about my career trajectory. I feel I made a mistake by switching tracks via doing an MBA with 10 yrs exp. I was a QA for a decade and tried a lot to break into PO roles( worked in a product based org on mobile apps for 6 years). It did not work and the director of PM advised me to do the one year fulltime MBA. Not sure why I gave in to his advice, but I gave GMAT and began with an 18 month Full time program at a Tier-1 Bschool. Cracked placement in the first go but got into IT services( not in WITCH), and now I am stuck being a PMO for a client. Even when I look at my resume, I see a crappy profile, everything is disjointed and makes no sense now. No wonder I get no calls. I don't want to go back to QA, this Project Management work is shitty( cannot see any learning happening, but the client is happy so I'm stuck in this project. ) I want to move to PM, thinking maybe CSPM can help, not sure where I am headed. Any guidance for this middle aged dinosaur 😞

It is actually a hard story. There are a few ways out. You need to take a hit. Either on pay, or role. Join early stage where you can be a PM. Easiest way to transition and build cred.

Hey @WaterLion We overestimate what can happen in a day. Underestimate what can happen in a year. For your own good, try not to be overwhelmed with what’s happening. Ultimately, you’re still enviable for millions of people. But generic advice aside, I don’t think a course such as CSPM matters a whole lot when trying to move into PM. At least at startups. Go really well through the basics: Cracking PM Interview, YT Videos, Actually going through 100s of products and understanding the thought behind them. Between coding/design/data - understand what your key strength areas are, and hone them. And all this while, interview. Interview for PM roles across companies. It will eventually happen. See the market is a bit tough rn, but it’ll change some point. Just sharpen your axe for now, you’ll hit well when the time comes 🤞

Career help!

I'm in serious trouble. I was an sde for 3+ years. Didn't like it, thought it's not meant for me and wanted a different job. Came across Product management, which piqued my interest. Somehow found a contract job at a startup and did it for a year. While it's not a traditional PM, it was more of a project manager. The contract ended, now I'm unemployed. Applied for jobs, no luck. Now I'm questioning my career choices, should I stick with PM or should I go back to being a techie. I definitely don't want to go back to coding, but I'm thinking of doing something like IAM/okta/cyberark stuff. Experienced folks, please help. I literally don't know where am I headed in life

Career Dillema | PM feels overwhelming

Hi folks, I work at a B2B SaaS company (been 2 years now) as a PM. From the last 12 months, my work has mostly revolved around strategy, business intelligence, program/general mgmt. I am now planning to quit and move on. However, I am not sure if I want to continue being a PM, because it's very overwhelming honestly and I actually enjoyed the last 12 months as a generalist. Need career advice whether to pursue program mgmt/strategy/general mgmt/Chief of staff/new initiatives roles or devote my time to prepare for PM interviews and also try to make up for the last 12 months. Some pointers about me: 1. I have a CS degree from a tier II college but haven't coded in a while. 2. There is no particular reason to quit. The job is chill & remote. 3. The head office is in the US. There is a possibility of moving to the US as well in the next 1 year. 4. The pay is fine. Not the best out there but decent

Feel stuck please help

I have over 15 years of experience working in IT and feel stuck here with no growth. At this juncture I am worried if I can get any offers outside as my skills are not great and I feel someone with around 5 years exp can do. Most of the work I did is a middle man work between business and developers either a lead or manager etc. any suggestions? On what path should I choose?

Associate Software Engineer- 1 years experience at service based company 2. PMO - same company 1.5 years experience 3. Project Analyst- 6 months service based company 4. Ed-Tech start up- 3 years Senior Program Manager 5. Program Manager- 1.2 years Product Based e-commerce start up( Not Amazon, Flipkart type) 6. I have done MBA from 7 years of work ex and switched into product management later. I have been struggling for the last 3 years with switching jobs every year post MBA. Unsure about PM career

Hi All, I'm working as a PM in a private bank. Prior to this I had worked as a Business PM in another bank 😅 My experience is that work expectations, KRAs of bank PMs are not in line with what is standard. Mostly stuck with meaningless work, getting very few conceptual projects. Feel like I am a glorified BA, who receives additional shit shovelling from senior mgmt. Unable to get in depth experience in any vertical. Earning 20LPA, experience 2.8 years. Need advise should I move out of PM and target Biz roles?

PM role after Undergrad ?

I am a 3rd year student from tier -3 private college, pursuing btech is it possible to get PM roles just after under graduation, have seen people from tier -1/2 pursuing vague branches like coal mineral sort of engineering and still be able to crack roles as a PM at tech companies . Also one should aim for a role like this after undergrad or just it demands more exp? Also any roadmap you would recommend
