Management consultant career progression

Hi folks, hope you all are having a wonderful day! I'm in a dilemma and need your expertise! I'm a senior consultant(mix of business analyst and consultant) at a mid size organization with 3 YOE, 16 LPA from tier 1 college. From my understanding I'm entering a stage where i can still pivot to product management, as later on it will be pretty hard! So my question to you all is that is it worth it to change career or should i climb ladder in consultancy. I don't really have any passion, my main focus points are money and job security. What do you think i should do?, what pays more?, which field has more future opportunities? Please advice. Ciao

I am currently working as a management consultant with a top firm (MBB, Kearney, Strat&, OW equivalent). I'm considering switch to PMM roles. On paper, both PMM and management consulting have some overlap in required skillsets (strong communication, problem solving, stakeholder and project management) but it is still not a popular MBB exit for consultants. Want to understand what's the industry expectation wrt PMM roles and if management consulting experiencd will be valued. Any further insights from PMM or product/ growth folks will be highly appreciated. TIA.

Biggest query: Does this career move make sense? Or should the aim be towards a Manager position after spending 6+ years in Product Management?

I joined CN with some hope to do strategy work after working for long in the Tech Consulting space. But here the work is pathetic and doesn't even come close to the work I used to do earlier. On top of that so many teams by industry , functions and whatnot and such cut throat competition of staffing and credit. What is this madness. All the people who are long timers here have totally no skillset , I can't fathom how they have survived so long here .

Here’s a brief intro about me: I’ve worked as both software engineering manager & software technical architect over the last 18+ years on various tech stacks managing backend, frontend and a little bit of cloud. I have seen ups and downs in the software industry. Currently I’m working as a senior architect in one of the product based companies in India.

I have 12 years of experience in IT industry and I have been only with 3 firms so far. Primary reason for job change has always been relocation as my personal life changed during these times. I have always been a top performer since the very beginning and I have been a manager too. But now I start loosing interest and I want to know what options do I have if I don’t want to scale up the ladder anymore. I just want to continue to remain in work to support my family but at the same time I don’t want to feel pressured to grow in career. I feel IT is not a place to retire but I don’t know what other options exist. All the technologies that I worked so hard for are almost becoming obsolete and I’m at a point where I don’t know what to do. Finding job scares me just as much as staying in the current one. Is anyone experienced beyond 15 years and are yet just Sr. Consultants or managers and what are your thoughts?

Yesterday I completed 10 years of career in consulting. Started with a Big 4 and then moved to another consulting giant Accenture Strategy 2 years ago. In this tenure ,I have met a lot of talented people, worked with some of the smartest ones and travelled the world like anything. Now looking for the next 10 years of better work life balance :P .

Hi there, I have 3.5 years of IT engineering experience and am considering transitioning to consulting. However, I don't have an MBA. Is this switch feasible? If so, what skills and experiences should I highlight on my CV? Are there any certifications or courses that would help? I appreciate any advice or insights!

Hi, I am working in an mnc as a software developer since 2 years after graduating from a top tier IIT. But I don’t see myself doing this in the next 5 years. Should I do an MBA from top tier IIM college? I know it will not be beneficial in short term but in long term is it a good idea? Anyone from similar backgrounds do share your experience.
