I’m a functional head, new dad and struggling to find my balance with work and parenting. Any tips? How do I win both parenting and work? Right now the split is more like 70-80% parenting, but 20-30% work. Need to balance it out

Everyone knows about the relatively young median age we have India. So consequently, we are going to be having a burst of newly weds and their subsequent kids. This would also be a generation where we see both parents working instead of one parent staying home(rent ain't cheap).

So, few questions to new parents who are both working jobs: 
What were major problems/stressors you faced in early years of parenting ? (Specifically between 0-2 years of age where babies require alot of care)

New grads, what's one thing you wish you knew before starting your first job?

How to manage workload with new born baby. I just had a baby and feeling a lot of pressure with office work as well as parenting. 
I want to give lot of time to my baby but it's not getting possible. My wife is on paternity leave and doing most of the baby work. I feels like I am missing lot of things in this phase of my child. 
Please suggest something.

I'm in my early 30s and suddenly my social media is flooded with baby announcements. Meanwhile, I'm here enjoying my DINK (Dual Income No Kids) lifestyle. But lately, I can't shake this nagging feeling that I might be missing out on something important. 

Those who chose to be childfree, do you ever regret it? Parents, is it really as fulfilling as everyone says? How did you know you were ready?

Feels like everyone's having kids but me. Am I missing out?

DINKs, (dual income no kids) have been gaining traction a lot lately. I want to know from the members of gravevine, what are their views on being a DINK couple or a DINKWAD( double income no kids with a dog). From financial prospects like having a huge disposable income to emotional aspects like not having a legacy or going against custom Indian tradition. Do share your thoughts 🤔💭

What are your thoughts about being DINKS?

We are a DINK couple (live-in, will get married soon) and absolutely no plans to have kids. Maybe be a DINKWAD someday by adopting an indie. Also no plans to buy a home or spend on our marriage. This is not a financial decision (both of us are doing decently well in our careers) but we don't want to have a child knowing how nothing around is improving and we don't want to sacrifice the best years of our lives by doing this. We are building a large corpus to be financially independent and travel without any financial restrictions.

Hi, recently we had a baby girl 👶 and are ovet the moon and enjoying our early parenthood. 

I have noticed that we have been *a lot* of money on things (toys, dresses, accessories etc..) ~1lakh till now.. 20k for clothes, other accessories ~70k (crib, car seat, stroller, dining chair, baby carrier, breast pumps etc etc..) during these initial days.. 

All products in baby category are super __expensive__ (talk about muslin clothes) and kids quickly outgrow them, making them irrelevant (our daughter is just 20days old and whatever the rompers we got for newborn is already to tight for her). 

How do you convince your wife that something is too expensive and not worth to buy? Whenever I have given hints on this, she mentions that you spend money on this and that and we shouldn't "kanjoos" when it comes to baby👶.. My wife is not ready to buy second hand items or use items from relatives (at least things like accessories not clothes). 

I can easily afford all this (>1cr CTC), but when do I start things about spending excessively?

Men, becoming fathers for first time, also go through rollercoaster of emotions. Cannot imagine the burden of overthinking - new responsibilities, ensuring mother n child are well, regular household chores plus work (where they don't get enough leaves)

TIL: Postpartum depression in men

I’m 25, and lately all of my long term plans (travel, masters, moving cities) seem to revolve around the plan that I’d want to be married when I turn 30. I know that might be later than most people but I have this constant feeling that once I have a family with a child, my life would be different and that makes me want to do everything before I turn 30.

I don’t know if I’m being fair to myself.

I became a new father like a week ago and I work in hardware. It’s already very hectic and has low reward mechanisms. Within next week I will have to leave my baby & wife in the hometown with better care and attention to earn my living in the city. Its not like my org is forcing me & is calling me, in-fact they are nicest I have seen but wish ke thoda time aur hota with zero regrets.

I am struggling in my career, in my post 30s too, stuck in jobs switch and upskillig race of jobs, no one to support you ( apart from the partner)I worry sometimes in this all messy life, what the hell I am going to do. If I am planning or having kids. ? Life is impossible sometimes, as we both  are under constant jobs pressure.

Are kids really that needed?

I'll go first.
I became way more patient and empathetic, translating to much improved people skills at work.
Please mention the positive changes only. The small negatives are too minor in the broad scheme of things as parents i believe.

As a kid, who wasn't extreme ill-mannered, have had my share of beatings 
I think it is ego satisfaction or let out of anger on something you have produced and feel entitled to use as punching bag

But ones who haven't been subjected to those are in a high of their own.
Feels like they were God sent for leveling up Earth
