Hello All, I am 25 years old and have recently been promoted to Warehouse manager at a pretty big 3PL company. I became the manager by skipping one level of promotion. I thought it was a very good opportunity and I took it. The preceding manager told me that it's a good thing that I have been promoted, but too much money (package) without a lot of experience to back it up is a trap as you will have a hard time getting another job. Is this true? I haven't decided what I will demand as my new pay package but should I be more conservative. Please help, all opinions are valid.

If you are exceptional, as in , top 10 percentile in your field, don’t listen to this bull. If not, it won’t be very difficult, but increment wouldn’t be what you’d want.

Been there before.
I won’t lie that it was difficult to adjust to the role, and command respect from everyone in the team. Took me a good 6 months to come up to even my own expectations.
I would suggest you to have a proper sit down with your manager to know each and every aspect of your new role, and create a roadmap for next 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.
This will give you confidence when you put a number (package) against the responsibilities you are taking up, and you’ll be able to justify it to yourself more than anyone else.
Of course, your actions in the new role will finally determine your success rate, and for this, keep an honest channel open where you can give and take feedback within your team and manager.
My underlying assumption is that you’ll be able to live upto everyone’s expectations with you in this new role.
