So recently, I read a lot of posts on Grapevine regarding some startups having no vision, poor management, toxicity etc etc, yet, many of these startups are doing quite a good business. I understand there is no correlation between work culture of a startup and it’s business outcome, but certainly, when a startup has poor management and unclear vision, then it should have troubles. That is not the case.
Ola Electric seems to be doing well, Zomato became profitable and there are a few other MNCs with a similar scenario. As an employee, I really want to understand if we are missing something here, like maybe lack of foresight, or are we being greedy with respect to salary and stuff, or maybe we don’t empathise with founders? Sometimes I really try to understand the perspective of founders, but then nothing can justify pathetic workplace or poor management.

A good friend of mine who was hired in Ola Electric (on campus 2022) as SDE has been put up on the performance improvement plan / PIP. 

Interesting part is that half of her team was laid off and remaining ones have been put up on PIP. Those on PIP are being asked to also pay for 3 months salary along with the joining bonus.

I don't think giving back 3 months salary and joining bonus is something she should accept? Like they're anyways ruining their career by putting them on PIP in first 10 months of their start of career?

With all these EVs catching fire and Ola not being able to turn a profit, Im curious to know if it really is a solid company or just an investor-money marketing hype? I mean most of the folks I know open Ola LAST, if Uber/Rapido/Blusmart haven’t worked. Ola E is also facing a lot of flak because its EVs are seeing the highest number of incidents. They’ve also had a string of CXOs come and go.

Are Ola + Ola E good companies? Like I’m curious to know what you guys generally think, even from a job perspective.

(PS, for the sake of transparency, I’m a journalist [you can drop me any scoops/leads at backgroundsources@proton.me] but this question has nothing to do with work — i’m seriously, genuinely curious about Ola and Ola Electric and Bhavish Aggarwal. Very few Ola folks speak about the internal goings on at the company)

Every 2-3 months we see this situation.

Pathetic. How many times these so called another layoff?  
 This is pure scam. Such kind of CEOs and CTOs have no right to be at such higher places. These id*ots come to media and give lectures also. There should be some laws in place for layoffs. These People wake up and do layoff. Some get funding and then do layoff and some vice versa. Some fire and then again post about hiring next month shamelessly. It's like a fashion for the. Layoff is no more a last resort these days.  
 These kind of companies will surely go down the drain.  
 CEOs and higher management should be made to disclose their salary and perks so that junior employees should also know how much salary difference is there and is there really a need for cost cutting.  
 Of not, we should atleast stop respecting/ideologise such people. If possible stop using/promoting their products as well. Treat them the way they treat employees.

Guys, i am in final year B.Tech, currently preparing for placements. 

My Parents advice is to prepare for Govt Jobs. They are fearing about the layoffs, but my aim is to get job in anyone of the MAANG.

I just want to know why layoffs happening. Is it because of the over hiring or because of the poor performance of the employees.
